Throughout our lives, we are all faced with various decisions, some more difficult than others. Once we’ve made the decision to follow Jesus, we’re called to not only address Him as Lord but also to obey Him as Lord—choosing to give up our will to embrace His. Jesus submitted Himself to the will of the Father and was obedient to the point of enduring suffering so that we may have life.

It’s easy to think there’s plenty of time, but eternity is closer than we realize. For some, this life is the closest they’ll get to heaven. For others, the best is yet to come. As followers of Jesus, we have the privilege of knowing that earth is not our forever home. Because of His sacrifice, we now have a home prepared for us in heaven, where we’ll get to spend eternity with the Father. When we are generous, God will expand our hearts in unimaginable ways. When Jesus was born, it was a fulfillment of the prophecy that a Savior, the King, would come to earth. He went to the cross and died for the sins of the world, and He rose again on the third day before He ascended into heaven.
