Post traumatic growth isn't getting back to where you were before, it's about thriving beyond that point - achieving heightened states of joy and awareness. It's the struggle that changes the individual, not the event. This is a concept similar to resilience, but distinct from it. Two psychologist coined this term - Richard Tedeschi and Lawrence Calhoun. Post-traumatic growth is positive change that occurs in the aftermath of struggling with any major life crisis or traumatic event. Each person is different for each person. Post-traumatic growth is a process, not an outcome, and typically involves developing positive responses in these areas: appreciation of life, enhanced relationships with others, new possibilities in life, newly identified personal strength, and spiritual or existential change. Dr Calhoun's book is Posttrumatic Growth Theory, Research, and Application.

There's always a solution, but if I'm locked into the idea that there is no solution we won't find it. We can change a problem from being a problem to being a challenge with a change in focus. When we focus on the solution we become empowered. So often, we tend to be tethered into our stuck pathways of behavior and thinking. Change the pathways of thinking and find creative solutions. We so often say to children, "No it's not possible." When we take their ideas and put it into a different frame, they can help us to find our solutions. Why is this and how can we find this acceptance and completeness in life? He shares that most of us are walking around feeling lonely and often isolated.     Once we think we have found a truth we have arrived at a conclusion, we've closedown minds we've stopped seeing the world afresh. We begin judging and evaluating every situation and event according to the conclusion, according to what we believe is true. We then remain in the past. The mind looses it's sharpness, because we think we have the answer. Exploration stops. There is no truth no matter how high minded that is true for everything and at all times. Once this happens this truth owns us rather than sets us free. When we have beliefs we feel more secure and when we release beliefs we can feel fearful, but in time it frees us. . Constructs make us feel safe....at least we think. When we release these we can find our true balance and move within into how we are. Where are the constructs in my life and how can I identify them and thenexplore them.

When we find playfulness and awe in our day, we can find greater joy, peace and delight in our life. What can I do re-find this ease and delight in my life. Finding fun ways to do what you always do. We tend to become serious and locked into our logical brain, we can have both the logical and the creative. How can we do this? Take ourselves out of the frustration by being as children and finding new meaning in our life. We can find new freedom!
