EP. 223 Bringing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion to Fishing- Meet Angelica Talan
15/02/2022 Duración: 25minThis week's guest is Angelica Talan, a social media influencer and blogger out of Washington D.C. who grew up fishing with her family in Ohio but got away from it at some point. That is, until one day her daughter approached her and asked if she would take her fishing. It's a great story and you'll hear all about it on this week's episode! Now both her son and daughter are in love with the sport and Angelica has become the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Liaison for United Women on the Fly! As you'll hear in the intro to this episode, growing up in Northwest Ohio Angelica didn't see any other people of color outside of her immediate family out on the river and questioned whether or not she belonged. Perhaps as a woman, or a minority, you have felt the same way. Listen in and see how Angelica is working to change this as she continues to be the change herself! Stay tuned for a special One Day at a Time Episode coming out on Sunday 2/20/22 featuring the awe-inspiring Katherine Field! Mentioned in this Episode:

EP. 222 Special Four Year Anniversary Celebration: Adventure Sports Podcast
08/02/2022 Duración: 54minWelcome to this very special 4th Anniversary Edition of The Woman Angler & Adventurer Podcast! It's a rarity that a podcast makes it more than a few episodes let alone 4 years, and that is a testament to you the listener! This show would definitely not still be going if we didn't have your continuous support. It is clear there is still a need for this platform and with that said, we are dedicated to continuing on for the long haul. We're only a few weeks into the new year and already the podcast downloads have doubled compared to last year! I thank you for the support and for continuing to spread the word! To celebrate this special 4 year anniversary I am sharing a candid conversation I had recently with Mason Gravely, host of the iconic Adventure Sports Podcast. I go deeper than I ever have before on my background and motivation behind this show. Maybe it was the Non-Alcoholic Athletic Brewing Company Craft Beer...or perhaps the intoxication of being on a pontoon on the beautiful Manatee River, but what

25/01/2022 Duración: 30minThis week we are introducing the new monthly episode series called "One Day at a Time" with special guest Kate Grice Hough. Life can be a struggle and in these uncertain times, a lot of us have struggled with mental and physical challenges. I felt a calling to create this new series of The Woman Angler & Adventurer platform in 2022 to share stories of women who want to tell the story of their challenges with us in order to help others work their way through and find inspiration. You'll no doubt discover a common theme- using nature and the outdoors as a tool to overcome. I first met Kate at iCast back in 2019. It seemed as though she had the world in her hands at that time. She was on track to be the first woman ever to win Co-Angler of the Year for the FLW South Carolina division. It wasn't long after that, Kate was dealt a devastating blow to her health...and it's been a major rollercoaster ever since. I hope you enjoy this new series and that it does what we hope it will do. 26/10/2021 Duración: 18minI absolutely love when I get the opportunity to do on-location interviews and this one is right up there with one of my favorites! I had an impromptu opportunity to take a week trip down to Perdido Key with some good friends, so of course, I jumped on it. While down there, I thought, you know, this is an area of Florida I've not been to before. There's got to be some amazing lady anglers in the area that I could meet up with and feature on the show. So, I reached out to my good friend Captain Debbie Hanson to see if she has any ideas and she pointed me in the direction of this week's guest, Captain Gabrielle Barnes! Capt. Gabby is based out of the Destin area, so we made the short drive over to Ft. Walton Beach, where we met up one beautiful afternoon on Okaloosa Island at The Gulf Restaurant waterside, which was the perfect setting for our conversation. Gabby pulled her center console Nautic Star after successfully catching some bait in preparation for the next day's charter and here we are! You'll hear jets
