A New Jersey native, Dougherty is a longtime member of the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters Association and has owned and bred thoroughbreds. br She is now the author of “The Golden Age of New Jersey Horse Racing” and will be discussing the long and colorful history of the sport in the Garden State. br The best racing this weekend will take place at Santa Anita on Saturday with two Grade 1's : the $400,000 Vanity Mile on the dirt and the $400,000 Shoemaker Mile on the turf.
