The issue of pronoun selection, name change and gender identity among Canada's youth and mandatory reporting by teachers/schools to parents of children under 16 years of age is increasingly polarizing. This week saw marches across Canada supporting these provincial policies and counter-protests.  The first province to introduce a policy requiring parents be informed if their children under 16 are choosing different pronouns/names was New Brunswick with Policy 713.
