In separate incidents over a four day period in June, two unarmed men were shot and killed by the Miami Beach police. Officer Adam Tavss alone shot Husein Shahada. After passing a psychological exam, he was cleared to go back on the street 72 hours later. That same day Tavss and two others shot and killed Lawrence McCoy, Jr. The Miami Beach Police Department determined that each shooting was a justified use of deadly force. However, not everyone agrees with those findings. Tonight Kim Kolton and I will seek justice for the Shahada and McCoy families. We’ll be joined by attorney John Contini and members of both families.
