Selena Haskins is a native Washingtonian who lives outside of DC with her husband and son. Besides writing, She is an avid NBA basketball fan. She loves music, movies, cooking, and drawing. Selena has been writing since she was nine years-old. By the time she got to high school, she wrote pieces for the school newspaper, and was participating in poetry and writing contests. Her first published pieces were poems and an article about basketball, published in a monthly journal, Writer's Way. Writer's Way was created through a non-profit organization, called DC Writer's Way (DCWW), and led by Malcolm Schultz. As a member of DCWW, Selena recited poetry and prose, and assisted with teaching writing workshops throughout the DC area. By the early 2000's, DCWW dissolved, but Selena continued to write and participate in other writing workshops throughout the Washington DC area. In 2013, she published her first book, "A River Moves Forward."
