One third of vehicles passing through an East Clare village are travelling over the speed limit. On foot of a motion tabled by Fine Gael Councillor Conor Ryan at the latest Killaloe Municipal District Meeting, a traffic survey was conducted on the R466 in O'Callaghan's Mills from May 14th to May 19th. It's been found that of the 1,124 vehicles driving through the village each day, 33% were over the current default speed of 50 kilometres per hour, equating to roughly 370 vehicles. Councillor Ryan says traffic calming infrastructure is required as matter of urgency.
