Clare's small and medium businesses are said to be living in fear of being "held over a barrel" by law suits at all times. The Irish Small and Medium Enterprise Association claims the Government is "sleepwalking into economic peril" by relying on multinational corporation tax receipts. In its pre-budget submission, the association is calling on the State to address what it's referred to as the imbalance currently favouring large multinational businesses over Irish SMEs. Managing Director of the Ailwee Burren Experience and ISME Council Member Nuala Mulqueeney claims businesses like hers feel as if they're in an unstable situation.
