Sinopsis
A prominent Clare hotelier says the Government seems to be doing everything in its power to back out of reducing the hospitality vat rate. It's after Tánaiste Simon Harris stated the rate cut could be delayed until next year and that hotel rooms won't be included. The Department of Finance claims dropping the rate to 9% would cost €810m, and that doing so in Budget 2026 would leave little room for other tax cuts, despite a promise in the programme for Government to change it in the budget process. Hotel Woodstock Co-Owner and Clare Tourism Advisory Forum Chair Sean Lally believes the coalition isn't listening.
