Sinopsis
It's being suggested a number of businesses on the outskirts of Ennis will be brought into a "viability issue" if proposed infrastructural changes go ahead. A joint motion has been tabled at an Ennis Municipal District meeting by Fianna Fáil councillors Tom O'Callaghan and Pat Daly, and Sinn Féin Councillor Tommy Guilfoyle, for references to changes to the Gort Road Highfield Park junction to be removed from the Ennis Draft Local Transport Plan. The document outlines proposals to reconfigure the roundabout into a three-arm signalised junction with removal of access to the McDonald's arm, with access to be maintained via the entrance to Centra on the Gort Road. Councillor O'Callaghan believes regardless of the outcome of public consultation, the proposal should be scrapped.
