For the believer, there is nothing, no argument or justification that can be made for participating in Halloween! Many would like to believe it is just a night of family fun, parties and innocent pretending and magic where ghosts and children roam through the night, dressing up in costumes and canvassing the streets for candy. Nothing could be farther from the truth.    Halloween springs out of superstition and intimidation, lies, fear and curses. The origins of the festival called Samhain, marked the end of summer and the beginning of the dark, cold days of winter for the Celtics. It was believed that on this night the lines between the living and the dead were blurred and ghosts of dead loved ones would appear.   The Druids were the pagan priests who promoted  those beliefs and their own interests by threatening the peasants into giving them a treat, (their winter food) or they would put curses on them.
