Those with less severe RSV case not requiring admission had nearly a 2-fold risk of later asthma.  Those babies whose parent or parents had a history of asthma and developed a severe RSV case had a 5-fold risk of later asthma. This study presents yet another compelling reason for every pregnant woman to receive an RSV vaccination in late pregnancy between 32 and 36 weeks.  Failing that, a long-acting antibody can be administered to the newborn for protection until the child can receive proper RSV vaccination,https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2
