Understanding Christianity

In Galatians 5:1-6, Paul urges us to stand confidently in the freedom Christ has won for us in the gospel. We must get the gospel "order" correct with indicatives always coming before imperatives. We exercise gospel obedience instead of legal obedience. Legal obedience is fueled by a desire to earn or merit acceptance with God by doing some good work out of fear SO THAT God will love you. Gospel obedience is fueled by love and thankfulness of what Christ has completely done for us and we obey out of joy, not drudgery. www.seancole.net
