Could an entire city really burn to the ground? Oscar Sterling never even wanted to come to Chicago. The city smells, and petty thieves seem to be lurking around every corner. Oscar desperately wants to return back home to his small farm in Minnesota, where the air doesn’t stink like dead hogs and the only thieves are the rabbits that steal carrots from the garden. But when he’s forced to race after a thief to retrieve a precious belonging, Oscar finds himself not just in the heart of the big city, but in the middle of a fire! No one is entirely clear on how it began, but everyone knows that a city with miles of wooden sidewalks and warehouses filled with coal and oil, is like one giant powder keg about to explode. The city has one of the best fire departments in the country, and there’s a whole army of firemen fighting this blaze. But this fire is a ferocious beast that wants to devour everything in its path, including Oscar. Will Oscar survive one of the most famous and devastating fires in history?
