A few trophy sales made headlines last week at the New York art auctions, including paintings from Edward Hopper and David Hockney that each sold for more than $90m. In total, Christie’s, Phillips and Sotheby’s sold close to $2bn worth of art during the week. But some marquee works also went unsold.
