Since Jesus Christ has set us free (“If the Son sets you free you will be free indeed” John 8:36), the Holy Spirit empowers us daily to walk in the freedom that God has provided through Christ. Freedom in Jesus Christ starts from salvation and extends into eternity. For “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17). God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.
