Following His triumphal entrance into Jerusalem on Sunday, Jesus and His disciples left the city to spend the night in Bethany.  On Monday, Jesus again enters the Temple complex and immediately begins a process of reformation.  Over the course of this chapter, we will see as He speaks boldly to the day’s abuses in the areas of Temple worship, prayer, and religious authority.  Today’s text finds Jesus declaring that the Temple complex was never to be devoted to the advancement of commerce, but always to humble, authentic worship of God.
