Avery has just moved to southern California with her mom after her parents' divorce. She dreams of swimming with dolphins, but a near-drowning incident years ago has left her fearful of the ocean. Maria longs for space and quiet among her big, loud family. She dreams of acceptance to a prestigious art program for her drawings of dolphins but knows her parents think art is impractical. When a dolphin leads the girls to a secluded cove, they become friends and encourage each other to overcome their fears. But their different backgrounds threaten to tear their friendship apart. When their dolphin is in trouble, they must overcome their differences to save the dolphin, and each other, before it's too late!
