Last night’s clouds didn’t exactly provide the perfect viewing experience for “Christmas Star” conjunction, but tonight a little bit after sundown we’ll all get another chance at it in the south/southwest sky. We won’t mention how few days are left for shopping, but with most everyone locked in their homes for the holidays, we go over some our favorite Christmas movies to help get us through. We’re less than 24 hours from the first major snowstorm of the season… we’ve had a few snow flurries so far, but this is the first “bread, milk, eggs” storm this season and people are buckling down to prepare for it. Big day for good news as electors across the country put their votes in for the next President of the United States… hint: it’s actually the person American citizens voted for. Plus doctors and nurses across the country are rejoicing as the first doses of vaccines roll out to hospitals and first responders. Its a big day for public health as the trucks are rolling and the first doses of the Phizer vaccine will be administered today. Plus today the US electors will officially meet and cast their votes for President… and unless something completely off the rails happens, Joe Biden should officially become “President-elect”. Another tough day for our democracy and in pandemic news, and the season is all but over for the Patriots after a bad loss in Los Angeles last night. But it is indeed Friday and we’re trying to be positive to head into the weekend. Joe Mathieu is in fan-boy heaven this morning after the biggest news release day ever from the people at Disney… the future is in streaming television, and Disney is currently owning it all. The pandemic numbers don’t look great this morning, but there’s big news for Star Wars fans (Joe included) about the future of the franchise. Good Thursday morning from Joe Mathieu and the GBH Morning Edition team. As the holiday spirit fills the air, its being dampened by covid-19 numbers and statistics that continue to get worse. Officials remind the public that even though a vaccine is on the horizon, now more than ever its important to wear a mask and properly socially distance yourself and your loved ones. Joe provides some Christmas cheer in the form of television ratings, where the highly popular Bachelor was unseated by an unlikely challenger. Not to repeat ourselves, but more crazy happenings in DC yesterday as the Attorney General surprised us all by announcing that the Justice Department found no evidence of fraud in the 2020 election. To be clear the surprise is not the lack of fraud, but rather Bill Barr’s willingness to confirm that and contradict President Trump’s narrative.
