God sent Jeremiah to Jerusalem to see if he could find one man who did justly and sought the truth, but among the rich and poor there was not one found. God would send Babylon from the north to prune foreign branches from the vine of Israel that were not his, yet the inhabitants of Jerusalem would not repent of sin, return and fear God. All God's people ought to examine themselves and ensure our lives increasingly resemble our Saviour Jesus.
