In the middle of an impeachment, issues of authority, power, justice, and hierarchy are involved. What should a Christan’s stance toward social structures and hierarchy be? Today we look at some difficult verses at the end of Chapter 3 that deal with this before moving on to finish Chapter 4 and so the Book of Colossians. What does it mean to take off my old self and put on the new self that Jesus offers me ? One of the clearest signs that I am a sinner is how annoyed I get when people talk about sin. I don’t want to hear it. I want to change the topic. I start to question their motives, tell myself they are judgmental and self righteous. Paul has waited till chapter 3 to talk about sin because he wants his hearer’s to know that he cares about them, that he wants to seem them succeed, that he is for them. It is exactly because he wants them to flourish that he warns them about the destructive nature of sin.
