Psalm 62:1-7   1 I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. 2 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. 3 So many enemies against one man— all of them trying to kill me. To them I’m just a broken-down wall or a tottering fence. 4 They plan to topple me from my high position. They delight in telling lies about me. They praise me to my face but curse me in their hearts. Interlude 5 Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. 6 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. 7 My victory and honor come from God alone.

Psalms 94:1-11 1 The LORD is a God who avenges. O God who avenges, shine forth.  2 Rise up, Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve.  3 How long, LORD, will the wicked, how long will the wicked be jubilant?  4 They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers are full of boasting.  5 They crush your people, LORD; they oppress your inheritance.  6 They slay the widow and the foreigner; they murder the fatherless.  7 They say, “The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice.”  8 Take notice, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise?  9 Does he who fashioned the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?  10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge?  11 The LORD knows all human plans; he knows that they are futile.

Psalm 91:9-16   9 If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, 10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

1 Peter 3:8-15  8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.  9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.  10 For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.  11 They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it.  12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”  13 Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?  14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats ; do not be frightened.”  15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.  3 If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?  4 But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.  5 I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.

Psalms 7:1-9 1 LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me,  2 or they will tear me apart like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.  3 LORD my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands—  4 if I have repaid my ally with evil or without cause have robbed my foe—  5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. 6 Arise, LORD, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies.
