There are tons of things that can keep us from belonging to a church. Some of us are so busy we can't imagine belonging to anything else. Others of us run from church because of our sin struggles. When we start doing something we shouldn't be doing we run from God and His people instead of to them. Others of us are afraid we'll get hurt. The list goes on and on. Belonging is so important. We all desperately want to belong somewhere. The problem is, belonging is about committing to other people - people who sometimes hurt and dissapoint us.In iBelong Part 1, Doug encourages us to decide that we belong to the people in our local church before the hurt and dissapointment tempt us to run.

Many of us are miserable at work or school. A task or subject we don't enjoy seems to suck the life out of us. A boss, co-worker or teacher drives us crazy. We do all we can just to punch in, punch out and get out of there. Is that really what God wants work to be like? In part 2 of On Our Side, Doug askes the challenging question, "How will you live differently knowing that God is on your side?"

It's really easy to forget that God is on our side isn't it? We can so easily lose sight of the differene He's made in our lives. When this happens we lose our joy and hope. We become more focussed on what God hasn't done then what He has done.In part 1 of our On Our Side, Doug encourages us to remember the incredible difference it makes to have God on our side.

One of the scariest things in life is to be in a place where there is nothing you can do about your situation. One of the most stressful times this happens is when you're financially stuck. Maybe a job was lost, financial aid was denied, a car died or a hospital bill was astronaumical. Christians and churches are really great at going to extremes. Some are all about grace. They are very loving and accepting, but they never have hard conversations and they skip lots of verses in the Bible.Others are all about truth. They stand up for right and wrong but they alienate anyone who doesn't think, act or believe like them.Jesus didn't go to either of these extremes. Instead, He was full of BOTH grace and truth. Christians and churches should be too! In part 1 of this new series, Doug talks about how we will reach the culture around us if we are full of both grace and truth.
