Chapter 12 is where the book of Romans makes a shift: After ten chapters of explaining the significance of God's lavish mercy, Paul begins walking his readers through what an appropriate response to that mercy looks like.

The book of Romans is about to take a turn from the theological to the practical and exhortative. But before it does, Paul takes time to explain what all of the grand truths he sketched out in chapters one through ten mean for God's relationship to his people of the Old Testament.
