Room 4216

In this lesson of Room 4216 we consider several topics of life. Fear of harm, family divisions, rejection. They are unpleasant but real. They are unpleasant but there is hope. We are not alone.

During the next few lessons in Room 4216 we consider “Jesus’ journey to Jerusalem”. Its the church season of Lent. Jesus as a man was tempted just like us. Is giving into a sin all that bad? If I want to not give in to temptation, how can I?Come join us.

Jonah finally got the message from God and went to Nineveh. The people got the message from God and repented. Rather than being happy or excited, Jonah is upset, prays and wishes to die. What?Come join us.

In chapter 2, while in the belly of the fish, Jonah prays. It’s an unusual prayer, and at first read a confusing unclear prayer. And yet when one unpacks the prayer, it can help us when we feel trapped and alone. It can help us as we pray. Come join us.

At the mention of Jonah, many people do think of the man thrown into the sea and swallowed by a large fish. In short people think the book of Jonah is about a man who disobeyed God, but whom God rescued. True as this may be, there is much more to the life and work of Jonah. In fact, if you conclude it’s about obeying God, you’ve got it all wrong.

The coming of Jesus, quiet as it was, humble as it was, did not go unnoticed. Many came to visit him. As we reflect upon these events we visit him too. What shall we give him or take away from this?
