Looking toward the new year, we hope for God’s blessings in our lives. But how should we pray? What do we ask for? On Sunday, January 3, 2021, Pastor Chad Gilligan first encourages us to prepare our hearts, and then, leads us in a prayer of blessing.

After a long year, we are looking forward to 2021. For over 4000 years, people longed for the coming of the Messiah. Generation after generation, they waited anxiously for Him to come in power and offer salvation to mankind. Finally, after centuries of prophecies, the Messiah came as a baby, born of a virgin, laid in a manger, and forever changed the world as we know it. Today, we know Jesus will come again, but this time, we don’t seem to care. On Sunday, December 6, 2020, Pastor Chad Gilligan concluded his I Am sermon series, and gives us Four Reasons We Stopped Caring about Jesus’ return.

If one thing has remained constant this past year, it’s inconsistency. News, politics, pandemic, life in general have been plagued with ambiguity and uncertainty. But even when life is at its craziness, there is One who never changes. On Sunday, November 29, 2020, Pastor Chad Gilligan continues with the I Am sermon series and shows us “How to Thrive in Crazy Times.”

You do you. Live your truth.  #YOLO. These are the philosophies that define our culture, define who we are as a society, and how we see ourselves in the 21st Century.  We like to believe that as long as we are “a good person,” we are on the path to Heaven. But Jesus offers another Truth, and it may not match up to what we like. On Sunday, November 15, 2020, Pastor Chad Gilligan continues his sermon series, I Am, and gives us Four Busted Myths.

Whether it is the loss of a loved one, a job, or a relationship, everyone grieves. Everyone has one moment of such great disappointment that it changes him or her forever. Hopes and dreams are lost. Unbearable darkness and endless sorrow overwhelm. Left unchecked and stifled, our emotions can destroy us and those around us. There is only one way to salvation. There is only one way to the Father, and that way is through Jesus Christ. He is the gate available to every man, woman, and child. No matter who you are or where you are from, the gate is open to you.  And through Him, He promises protection, peace, provision, hope, and restoration. On Sunday, October 25, 2020, Pastor Chad Gilligan unpacks Jesus’ teachings and takes an in-depth look at how Jesus describes Himself in the Bible.

One of the biggest lies Christians tell themselves is that followers of Christ will not have troubles and disappointments in life. When things don’t go according to plan, they end up questioning God and questioning themselves. But Jesus never said that there would never be trouble. In fact, He said the opposite. On Sunday, October 18, 2020, Calvary Church welcomes guest speaker, Pastor Scotty Gibbons, as he teaches from the story of Lazarus and what to do When Faith Collides with Reality. 

Even at our darkest times, there is no such thing as a hopeless situation. When Jesus said, “I am the light of the world,” it went beyond being a symbolic or religious idea. It’s Jesus’ promise of action and restoration to us. And when we allow God to move in His way, and trust in Him completely, He can bring light and change to any situation. On Sunday, October 11, 2020, Pastor Chad Gilligan continues his sermon series, I Am, as he recounts the story of Jesus healing the blind man.

Rabbi, Son of Man, Lion of Judah, Man of Sorrows … throughout the Bible, Jesus is known by many names. But who was Jesus really? If we want a relationship with Him and truly know Him on a deeper, more personal level, we need to unpack who Jesus is by His own words. On Sunday, October 4, 2020, Pastor Chad Gilligan begins a new sermon series, I Am, and takes an in-depth look at how Jesus describes himself in the Bible.

The world is filled with conflict, polarization, contradiction, hypocrisy, unknowns , fear, anger, frustration, and disappointment. But God has called His people to more, to not live lives of frustration, but to live our lives to the full. On Sunday, September 27,2020, Pastor Chad Gilligan concludes his How To… sermon series and encourages us to live a life worth living.

At Calvary, missions is more than a thing we do, it’s our assignment from God. While we’re excited to support missionaries and ministries around the world, as well as locally, we know missions first begins in our homes, work, and schools. On Sunday, September 20, 2020, Calvary’s Serve Director, Leah Lorann, kicks off Missions Week 2020 as she speaks on what it means to live a missional life.

What do we do when facing an ethical dilemma or uncertainty in life? Not every question we encounter has an answer. And without a go-to response on what to do, we can feel very lost and confused.
