#2 Clemson suffered their worse loss in the playoff era on New Year's Day as #3 Ohio State dominated all phases of the game, handing the Tigers a humbling 49-28 defeat that capped off an unusual 2020 season. In this ep we recap a game in which the Tigers had no answer for OSU on either side of the ball, as the Buckeyes defensive pressure stymied Trevor Lawrence and the offense (7:24) and the defense looked completely inept against a masterful game plan and gutsy performance by QB Justin Fields (33:57). In doing so we breakdown the Tigers' deficiencies and how it relates to recruiting, before offering an optimistic look ahead to their trajectory moving forward. The #2 Clemson Tigers will be making their 6th consecutive trip to the College Football Playoff after claiming their 6th straight ACC title in a 34-10 blowout of fellow playoff contender Notre Dame. In doing so they avenged their loss to the Irish from 6 weeks prior when a depleted Tiger team lost in double OT in South Bend. In this ep we discuss the dominant performance and what having Trevor Lawrence back meant to the offense (11:46), and how the return of key defensive starters, combined with the development of some outstanding true freshman, held Ian Book and Notre Dame to 10 points the second time around (41:36). The #3 Clemson Tigers weathered the cold (and sprinklers) in Blacksburg last weekend, exiting with a 45-10 win over the Virginia Tech Hokies. In this ep we recap what was an otherwise unmemorable game that saw the Tigers' offense limited in possessions (8:26), and their defense that was on the field for nearly two-thirds of the game (36:12). Three weeks after suffering their first loss of the season to Notre Dame, the #3 Clemson Tigers were back on the field in Death Valley Saturday afternoon and showed that time heals all wounds, mounting a 52-17 victory over the Pitt Panthers in a game in which they led 31-0 after one quarter of play. In this ep we discuss the return of QB Trevor Lawrence and his impact on the offense (17:59), and a defense that forced 5 turnovers in welcoming back Tyler Davis, Jaime Skalski and Mike Jones Jr. into the mix while also showcasing freshman talent (43:03). The Clemson Tigers went down to Tallahassee on Saturday looking to bounce back after their first loss of the season, only to be turned away by the FSU administration in an attempt to avoid further humiliation in a humbling first season under coach Mike Norvell Corona Virus. In doing so they almost assured that Dabo and the Tigers hang 100 on them the next time the two teams meet, which in our estimation may very well have been worth it. So in this ep we discuss the decision, the fallout and the inaugural College Football Playoff ranking for 2020. Enjoy and Go Tigers!!! A depleted and mistake-prone Clemson Tiger football team went into South Bend on Saturday night and could not hang on against a Notre Dame squad that showed they could win on the big stage, as the Tigers were left to lick there wounds after a 47-40 2OT loss to the Irish. In this ep we discuss the rare regular season loss (1:04) in which the offense posted their worst rushing performance since 2011 (17:01), and the defense ran out of gas against a Notre Dame offense that proved much more capable than they let on in previous performances this year (49:30). The #1 Clemson Tigers overcame the absence of Trevor Lawrence after he tested positive for Covid late in the week, mounting the largest home comeback in school history en route to a 34-28 victory over Boston College. In this ep we discuss the rare closely-contested ACC matchup (00:55), as the offense rallied behind the play of the next in line of Clemson 5-star QBs, true freshman DJ Uiagalelei (22:48), and the defense made adjustments to stop the bleeding, holding the Eagles scoreless in the 2nd half (39:23). We then offer our early thoughts on the upcoming Notre Dame game before taking a look around a college football landscape that is nearly back to full strength, with the PAC-12 joining the fold this weekend (59:12). The #1 Clemson Tigers turned it on late in a 47-21 win over the Syracuse Orange Saturday night, "escaping" with a four score victory that left fans somewhat uneasy about a somewhat erratic performance. The #1 Clemson Tigers visited Bobby Dodd Saturday afternoon and ruthlessly exterminated the Yellow Jackets from Georgia Tech, showing no mercy to neither engineer nor scoreboard en route to a 73-7 victory in Atlanta. In this recap of the carnage, we discuss a Trevor Lawrence-led offense that seems to be hitting on all cylinders (10:15) and a defense that continues to flex its muscles behind wealth of talent and depth (41:06). The 7th ranked Miami Hurricanes expected to downpour upon making landfall in Death Valley on Saturday night but could muster no more than a drizzle as the #1 Clemson Tigers accounted for most of the devastation en route to a 42-17 victory. In this ep we recap yet another blowout of a top 10 opponent as a dual threat of Heisman contenders on offense (18:00), combined with a talented and aggressive Brent Venables defense (37:35), let the “U” know that they are not, in fact, back, special teams’ woes aside (51:44). The #1 Clemson Tigers faced their first test of the season in Death Valley on Saturday nigh against the reigning ACC Coastal champions, the Virginia Cavaliers, and, though pulling off an 18 point victory, head into next weekend's highly anticipated matchup against the #7 Miami Hurricanes with more questions than answers. In this ep we discuss the game and the struggles of a young, but talented, defense that gave up over 400 yards to the Cavaliers (3:13), a potentially lethal offense that has not quite yet found it’s identity (33:27), and a special teams unit that has quietly become a strength of this team (1:02:46). The #1 Clemson Tigers shelled The Citadel in front of 19k socially distanced fans in Death Valley on Saturday afternoon, scoring all 49 points in the first half in a game that saw 100+ Tigers get in on the action. In this ep we recap an offense (4:55) that, led by Heisman candidate Trevor Lawrence, was unstoppable behind the first team offensive line but stalled once the backups entered the game, failing to put up points in the 2nd half. We also take a look at the defense (29:47) which, on the other hand, dominated throughout behind the strength of a rebuilt defensive line unit led by the phenomenal true freshman Miles Murphy and Bryan Bresee. The Clemson Tigers are back for what is already shaping up to be an unusual and unpredictable 2020 college football season as, despite several key players not making the trip to Winston-Salem, presumably due to COVID-related precautions, the Tigers shook off some early rust in an eventual 37-13 route of Wake Forest on Saturday night. In this game recap we discuss an offense that once again opened up and found success in the passing game over the middle (8:16), a new look defense that returned to dominating the line of scrimmage (33:41), and a special teams unit now filled with veteran kickers who made their impact felt (44:54). We wrap with a look around college football and discuss the possibility of the Big 10 joining in on the action as conference officials continue to waffle on their decision (49:08).
