They are smiley. They are pudgy. They are incredibly deadly. The Enterprise comes across a benign seeming race known as Pakleds. They have much technology, but the cannot make it go. Investigating the wreckage of a 300-year-old spaceship from Earth, the Enterprise finds a building capable of supporting life in a very unlikely place. But what they find inside is even more unlikely: a staffed and operating, mid-1990s hotel, complete with a front desk, room service and a casino. How did it get there? The Enterprise has a rendezvous with its ailing sister ship, the Yamato. Sadly, it explodes and Picard takes up its mission. But the Enterprise starts suffering some of the same symptoms of the Yamato - pre-explosion. Also, they are in the Neutral Zone. And there are Romulans.
