Needless to say, the struggle is real when it gets 30+ degrees in Edmonton, but it's also hard to complain when we know how cold it will get a few months down the line. From there, the boys spent a few minutes talking about a dream #NationVacation to Finland that they would love to put together, and how they would all love to experience hockey the way they do. Moving along, the guys welcomed Nation listener, Turner Watson, to talk about his love for the Oilers and how excited he is to have the team's ECHL affiliate in his hometown. Lastly, the guys wrapp

Despite the fact that Gaudreau and Tkachuk both left the team in a matter of weeks, the organization did very well for themselves with the trade that brings Huberdeau and Weeger to town. Sticking with that trade, the guys looked at the deal the Flames were able to swing and whether the Oilers need to respond in kind with some roster upgrades of their own. Getting away from hockey, Chalmers and Jay told another story about going to watch the Edmonton Riverhawks, and how it's something that you just have to experience. From there, the guys covered some of the other

The Calgary Flames implosion, Oilers roster needs, and a pickleball challenge
21/07/2022 Duración: 01h02minAnother Thursday has landed on your calendar and that means the boys from the Real Life Podcast are back with a brand new episode to help you get through what’s left of your week. On today’s show, the guys looked at the Calgary Flames situation, potential roster upgrades, and a whole more.Kicking off the Thursday episode of Real Life, the guys got started with a chat about the Calgary Flames, and specifically how this current offseason is one of the worst runs ever for that franchise. First Johnny Gaudreau left for Columbus in free agency and now Matthew Tkachuk looks to be on the way out, and the guys on the podcast talked about what those moves mean for the Flames and the Battle of Alberta in general. Turning back to the Oilers, the guys looked at what the Oilers still have to get done this offseason. For Jay, the biggest hole on the roster is undoubtedly the defensive group, but as you'll hear in the podcast, the options may be limited. If you're a fan of roster speculation, this is the podcast for you. Fr

18/07/2022 Duración: 01h06minThe busiest chunk of the NHL free agency period is now behind us, but with plenty of teams still looking for upgrades, the gang from the Real Life Podcast was back with a brand new pod to help you make sense of everything that's happened so far. On today’s show, the guys looked at social media trends, phone problems, Liam's prospect love, and a whole lot more.To kick things off, the guys got the podcast started with a conversation about social media after the new Instagram update has pissed off almost all of their users since it looks less like Insta and more like a terrible version of TikTok. Somehow that conversation about social media led the boys to talk about their cell phones, and how they should be hard-pressed to be called phones at this point. Getting back to hockey, the guys asked Liam about his love for hockey prospects and how he was able to turn that into a scouting gig for himself with the Sherwood Park Crusaders. As you'll hear, Liam's journey to becoming a scout is a fascinating journey that w

Not only did Gaudreau break Flames fans' hearts, but to end up in Columbus for a whole lot less money. Somehow talking about Johnny Hockey led the boys to offer dating advice that no one asked for. Getting back to hockey, the guys spent some time talking about the work that Ken Holland got done without having to spend way too much to get it done. As much as the Oilers had plenty of cap space to play with, the amazing thing for a lot of fans was how he was able to bring in a bunch of useful players with

On today’s podcast, the guys looked at Tyler's time in Montreal for the NHL Entry Draft, Reid Schaefer, Oilers rumours, and a whole lot more.To kick things off, the guys got the podcast started with Tyler's airport stories after he got pulled into secondary after his baggage set off the alarms for drugs. Yet, despite the alarms going off, Yaremchuk was able to navigate his way through this case of mistaken identity and back through to his gate. He then told the story about sitting in front of Jay Woodcroft on the plane and how the Oilers' new head coach was a good samaritan to those around him. Would you expect anything less from Woody? Sticking with the Oilers, the guys bombarded Tyler with all kinds of trade ideas of varying qualities and it was clear from the jump that he was not at all interested. Changing gears, Chalmers wanted to talk about the R

On today’s show, the guys looked at Tyler's adventures in Montreal, Oilers rumours, photography, and a whole more.Kicking off the Thursday episode of Real Life, the guys got started with stories from the NHL Draft as Tyler made his way to Montreal to cover the festivities for Oilersnation and Daily Faceoff. From the media after-party to making friends with beat writers from other markets to unexpected expenses, Tyler's draft adventures left all kinds of room for jokes at his expense and the guys did not waste the opportunity. Having Yaremchuk at the draft reminded Wanye and Jay about the time that the Nation crowdsourced Robin Brownlee's way to the draft after he complained about not going in one of his articles. From there, we looked at some of the latest Oilers rumours that have come out over the last few days. Will Duncan Keith r

On today’s podcast, the guys looked at the Ivan Fedotov situation in Russia, the NHL Entry Draft, the Oilers' goaltending situation, and a whole lot more.To kick things off, the guys got the podcast started with a look at Ivan Fedotov and how the goaltender was arrested in Russia after leaving SKA Moscow and allegedly skipping out on his military service. Yet, despite the reasoning for his arrest, the story is taking on a life of its own as more details trickle out about what's going on and the story is mindboggling, to say the least. Getting back to the Oilers, the guys looked at the team's goaltending situation and whether or not Jack Campbell would be a decent UFA solution. Would Campbell be enough of an upgrade? Is there a better option out there? Changing gears, Baggedmilk and Jay talked about the Zhou Guanyu crash from this past weekend at the British

The Oilersnation Open, Jesse Puljujarvi, and another rap album breakdown
30/06/2022 Duración: 54minThursday has landed on your calendar which means the boys from the Real Life Podcast are back with a brand new episode to help you get through what’s left of your week. On today’s show, the guys looked at the Oilersnation Open, Jesse Puljujarvi's future with the Oilers, and a whole more.Kicking off the Thursday episode of Real Life, the guys got started with a chat about the Oilersnation Open that's set for August 19th out at Cattail Crossing after listener, Ryan, won the bid to golf with the boys for an amazing $1300. With all of the money going to Gregor's Grads, the guys were blown away by the generosity and cannot wait to get out on the course. Getting back to the Oilers, the guys looked at the Jesse Puljujarvi situation after Tom Gazolla reported that the player and team are seemingly heading for a split. Obviously, it's disappointing for a lot of us to see that the relationship has soured once again after what felt like a wonderful reunion only a few years ago. Next up, the podcast fell off th

27/06/2022 Duración: 01h05minA new week is here and that means the gang from the Real Life Podcast is back with a brand new episode to help you get through what’s left of your Monday. On today’s podcast, the guys looked at Baggedmilk's vacation, deep heat in poorly placed areas, and a whole lot more.To kick things off, the guys got the podcast started with a recap of Baggedmilk's vacation and how he basically spent the last week of his life moving from cocktail to cocktail. Whether he was on Vancouver Island or downtown Van bopping around pubs near the beach, Baggedmilk had an excellent time relaxing on the beach and watching the world go by for the first time in quite a while. From there, the podcast fell off the rails with a conversation about everything from Pimp by Ride to campervans to Jay's Harley that no one other than Wanye seemed to know he had. From there, Wanye told his Moose Jaw story after a former Warrior ended up pressure washing his house and revealing one of the larger misunderstandings you'll ever hear. Lastly, the podc

Would You Rather Live in the Past or Future?
23/06/2022 Duración: 01h06minThis week's episode got off to a weird start as Yaremchuk asked the guys whether or not they'd rather spend a day 100 years in the past or 100 years in the future? That conversation ended up leading them down countless other paths like how Chalmers enjoyed seeing 'Hamilton' live, how duels used to work, what the sport of hockey could look like 100 years from now, and how technology could change. There was a lot going on and not a lot of it was at all related to our beloved Edmonton Oilers.Yaremchuk opened up about how his house renovations have been going and Chalmers ripped him for a mistake he made while laying down new floors, Wanye shared a gruesome encounter he had with a coyote, and Jay taught Tyler what pocket pool is! There was a lot going on.They did eventually lead to some Oilers talk as they discussed Auston Matthews winning the Hart Trophy over Connor McDavid. There were also a few writers that left #97 completely off their ballot and Wanye wanted to challenge THEM to a duel. They also took a quic

This is all about Levi's jeans
20/06/2022 Duración: 01h06minA new episode of the Real Life Podcast is here to take you into the work week! This week features an epic throwback right from the jump and also the return of Chris Chalmers. It's been a few weeks since he joined the podcast as he recovered from the Oilers being eliminated from the playoffs. They talked about Levi's jeans, a wild story that involves a fake boy band and Japanese Village, and also a new TV show that Wanye is obsessed with. The episode had a lot of twists and turns early on, but they all eventually connected to each other... we think. PLUS: could Jay hit a ball our of ReMax Field? The group debated it.They did also talk some hockey as the Oilers missed out on free agent Andrei Kuzmenko. Tyler explained how that affects the Oiler's offseason plans. They also talked about potential contracts for the Oiler's three pending RFA forwards.Jay had to leave the podcast early which means that Wanye took over and once again talked about his plan to release an Oilers themed EP. Clearing cap space, listener questions, and the Nation hip hop album
16/06/2022 Duración: 01h02minThursday has landed on your calendar which means the boys from the Real Life Podcast are back with a brand new episode to help you get through what's left of your week. On today’s show, the guys looked at how the Oilers could clear some cap space, strange snacks, and much more.Kicking off the Thursday episode of Real Life, the guys got started with a conversation about Baggedmilk's fresh haircut and how getting cleaned up could only mean that he's getting married. Tyler's plan backfired on him, though, as Baggedmilk has no problem saying yes to any suggestion thrown his way. Changing gears, the conversation turned to the Edmonton Oilers and specifically how the team can clear some cap space. Unfortunately, as you'll hear, none of their ideas were any good. From there, the guys dove into some listener questions that came in on social media, and as expected, this segment steered the show right into the ditch. Whether it was deserted island living or convincing Tyler to eat weird things, the boys had a good

Real Life history, Fiverr beats, and Mikko Koskinen's farewell
13/06/2022 Duración: 01h08minA new week is here and that means the gang from the Real Life Podcast is back with a brand new episode to help you get through what’s left of your Monday. On today’s podcast, the guys looked at Broadway musicals, Jay's random gift, and a whole lot more.To kick things off, the guys got the podcast started with a chat about Broadway after the Tony Awards took place last night to celebrate musical theatre. As you'd expect, no one on the podcast had much to say about Broadway so the conversation quickly changed directions to random gifts they've received over the years. That led Jay to tell a story about getting a gift from Oilers legend, Rod Philips, as he randomly walked past the former broadcaster's house with his dog. Somehow, Jay talking about his gift from Phillips resulted in a walk down memory lane about the origins of the podcast and how the lineup has evolved over time. How bad were the titles of the podcast back in the day? Shocking, in fact. Lastly, the guys wrapped up the podcast with a foolproof pla

On today’s show, the guys looked at their pop choices, yards of beer, golf suspensions, and much more.Kicking off the Thursday episode of Real Life, the guys got started with a conversation about Tyler's drink choices as he rolled into the podcast studio with a fresh Mountain Dew. Somehow talking about pop led the boys to share stories about when they got pulled over or ticketed for varying reasons, and how none of them were able to get out of the ticket. Sticking with sports, the guys walked through the Liv Golf situation as the PGA announced more than a dozen suspensions for players that jumped ship for more cash. Since Baggedmilk doesn't follow the sport at all, he was very confused about the suspensions but thankfully Tyler was there to make sense of what's happening. Back to the Oilers, the guys recapped the Weste

Oilers fighting to stay alive and the Nation Vacation to Toronto
06/06/2022 Duración: 01h02minA new week is here and that means the gang from the Real Life Podcast is back with a brand new episode to help you get through what’s left of your Monday. On today’s podcast, the guys looked at the Oilers fighting for their lives against the Avalanche, what to expect from a do-or-die Game 4, and a whole lot more.To kick things off, the guys got the podcast started with a chat about Game 3 and how it was extremely disappointing that the Oilers dropped a third straight game despite playing well enough to win. Regardless of our feelings on how things went, the reality is that the Oilers are in a tough spot now and will need to be at their best if they're going to extend this series at all. One thing is for sure, there is no way that Edmonton wants to have the handshake lineup in their own building and that could lead to a very desperate hockey club. Changing gears, the guys revealed more details for the Nation Vacation to Toronto that's set to take place in August and how everyone is excited to he

02/06/2022 Duración: 49minThursday is here and that means the boys from the Real Life Podcast are back with a brand new podcast to help you get set for Game 2 which will happen down in Denver at 6 pm MT. On today’s show, the guys looked back at Game 1, what to expect in the rematch, and a whole lot more.Kicking off the Thursday episode of Real Life, the guys got started with a conversation about what happened in the series opener and how the Oilers ended up losing because of their mistakes and not because of the controversial goal call in the first period. Somehow the conversation about Game 1 led the boys to talk about their favourite Canadian cartoons and what's their approach to wearing a backpack. Why were they talking about vests and backpacks? No one knows for sure. From there, the guys welcomed John Scott back to the podcast for the first time since saying that the Oilers weren't going to amount to anything this season. After taking his lumps for a take that aged poorly, Scott gave the boys a few reasons why the

Oilers wrap up the BOA, head to Colorado for the Western Conference Final
30/05/2022 Duración: 01h05minA new week is here and that means the gang from the Real Life Podcast is back with a brand new episode to help you get through what’s left of your Monday. On today’s podcast, the guys looked at the Oilers wrapping up the Battle of Alberta in five games, what to expect from the Colorado Avalanche, and a whole lot more. To kick things off, the guys got the podcast started with a chat about the Battle of Alberta and how the Oilers managed to get through a series that no one expected them to win. Whether it was McDavid and Draisaitl's brilliance or some timely goals from throughout the lineup, the Oilers got plenty of key performances at clutch times and the Flames simply could not match. From there, the boys played a song parody by Captain Feltan that recapped the BOA in a pretty fantastic way and we defy you to not have this song stuck in your head. The guys also walked through where they were and what they were doing when McDavid scored the OT winner, and as you'd expect, the stress was real. Looking ahead at

Oilers have a chance to close and Mike McKenna from Daily Faceoff
26/05/2022 Duración: 54minThursday is here and that means the boys from the Real Life Podcast are back with a brand new podcast to help you get set for Game 5 which will go down at the Saddledome starting at 7:30 pm. On today’s show, the guys looked back at Game 4, Nuge's big moment, and welcomed Mike McKenna from Daily Faceoff to break down what's been happening so far. Kicking off the Thursday episode of Real Life, the guys got started with a conversation about the massive win in Game 4 and how it wasn't the prettiest win we've ever seen. The most important part about that win was how the Oilers did not fold despite the fact that the Flames were able to grind their way back into a tie game, including an insane long-distance goal that could have killed their spirit but ultimately did not. For all of us, the amazing thing about that win was that the Oilers didn't fold when times got tough and it was the kind of resilience that we haven't seen in a long time. From there, the guys welcomed Mike McKenna from Daily Faceoff to talk about t

Frank Seravalli is in studio & the Oilers are up 2-1 in the BOA!
23/05/2022 Duración: 01h03minIt's a long weekend, the sun is shining, and the Oilers have a 2-1 lead in the Battle of Alberta. Life is good and we enjoyed it all today on a new episode of The Real Life Podcast. We were also joined by our good friend Frank Seravalli, who's in town to cover the series between the Oilers and Flames. Frank talked the Oiler's absolutely electric game three victory and making the drive from Calgary to Edmonton. Connor McDavid is on another level right now and the numbers that he's producing are absolutely historic. We talked about the magical run that he's on but don't get it twisted, even though the Calgary Flames may like to believe this is a one man team, it's not. The Oilers are getting contributions from plenty of other pieces of this lineup. We gave love to everyone who deserved it today on the show. Frank and Chalmers also talked about story telling in sports and they reminisced about the fact that Frank beat Chalmers in a golf bet last summer. Chalmers is itching to even the score and win back his mone
