Free Agency Recap, Zach Hyman, and an Olympic Breakdown
30/07/2021 Duración: 01h25minThursday means that the workweek is winding down and that the boys from the Real Life Podcast are back with a brand new episode of the show to get you set for the weekend and break down the week that was. In today’s episode, the guys covered day one of free agency, Ethan Bear being traded to Carolina, Tyson Barrie, and a whole lot more. To kicking things off, the guys got started with a chat about the NHL free agency that kicked off yesterday and whether or not the Oilers are actually better today than they were in free agency. How much does the Zach Hyman signing help? What about Warren Foegele? Is the defence going to be good enough to keep the puck out of the net? From there, the guys looked at player jerseys numbers, and wondered specifically about which number Hyman will wear as the guys all believe that his jersey will be a best-seller around these parts. Changing gears, the guys talked a little football as Aaron Rogers made some news yesterday after his open and honest assessment of where he's at with

The NHL Draft, the Olympics, and City Garbage Bins
26/07/2021 Duración: 01h02minThe weekend may be behind us but the fun is far from over as the boys are back with a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast to help get your week started and to make sense of the world around us. In today's episode, the guys covered the NHL Entry Draft, Tyler's vacation, and a whole lot more. Kicking off the podcast, the guys started the podcast with a look at this past weekend's NHL Draft and what everyone thought of selecting Xavier Bourgault with the 22nd overall pick, especially after trading back and leaving goaltender Jesper Wallstedt on the board. From there, the guys looked at NHL Free Agency that kicks off on Wednesday after news came out that the Oilers would be waiting until free agency day to sign Zach Hyman to a max-term deal. That's when Tyler hopped on the podcast to discuss his vacation and give a few takes on what's been going on in the NHL over the past few days. Moving on to the Olympics, the guys took guesses about what sport they could potentially participate in and not completely embarr

Frank Seravalli's takeover, Jeff Bezos in space, and the Edmonton Oilers
22/07/2021 Duración: 01h06minThursday means that your workweek is winding down and that the boys from the Real Life Podcast are back with a brand new episode of the show to get you set for the weekend and break down the week that was. In today’s episode, the guys covered Adam Larsson jumping ship, Frank Seravalli taking over Twitter, space talk, and a whole lot more. Kicking off the podcast, the guys started the podcast with a conversation about soccer as new Tyler (Liam) was sitting in since Yaremchuk decided the best time for a vacay was the business week in NHL news. Despite knowing nothing about soccer... err... football, the guys did their best to engage in the topic even though they could tell Liam thought they were idiots. Changing gears, the conversation turned to Jeff Bezos' space trip from a few days ago and tried to figure out what retail space travel will mean for human beings going forward. Next up, how could the guys not spend a few minutes talking about how Frank Seravalli broke Hockey Twitter yesterday with all of the bre

New Intros, Listener Questions, and the Expansion Draft
19/07/2021 Duración: 01h01minThe weekend may be over but the fun is far from over as the boys are back with a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast to help get you going and to make sense of the world around us. This week, the guys covered the Oilersnation Open, new podcast intros, listener voicemails, and a whole lot more. Kicking off the podcast, the guys started the podcast with some quick golf talk as we draw ever closer to the Oilersnation Open. As the podcast started, the high bid to golf with the boys is $600 for a lucky duo that will join Jay, Chalmers, and Yaremchuk for a round at Cougar Creek. From there, Tyler showed off the brand new podcast intros that he's been sitting on, and once again, Baggedmilk was not in them. Disrespect? Direct shot? Only Tyler knows for sure. Getting back to hockey, the guys took some questions from Twitter about what's to come with the Oilers only to have the conversation fall off the rails almost immediately. Lastly, the guys wrapped the podcast with their first Big Brother segment of the year as

15/07/2021 Duración: 01h19sThursday means that your workweek is winding down and that the boys from the Real Life Podcast are back with a brand new episode of the show to get you set for the weekend and break down the week that was. In today’s episode, the guys covered the Oilers rumours, disc golf, the Oilersnation Open, and a whole lot more. Kicking things off, the guys got the podcast started with a recap of the Nation Real Life Disc Golf Championship that took place this past Tuesday after the guys finally got out to Rundle Park to get a round under their belts. From the moment the guys arrived at Rundle to the minute they wrapped, the guys had nothing but good things to say about the sport they had never played before this even though it humbled them greatly with their lack of skill. Sticking with the links, the conversation turned to the upcoming Oilersnation Open that is set for August 26th and how you have the opportunity to bid to golf with the Real Life crew. Changing gears, Wanye then told a story of how his new neighbours s

Duncan Keith Trade Day
12/07/2021 Duración: 56minThe weekend may be over, but the good news is that the boys are back with a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast to help get you going and to make sense of the world around us. This week, the guys covered the Duncan Keith trade, Baggedmilk's gift to Jay, listener voicemails, and a whole lot more. To kick things off, the guys got started with a conversation about the Duncan Keith trade that just broke right before the podcast started and tried to make sense of why this deal had to happen now. Surprisingly, the boys on the podcast were split on the trade even though many Oilers fans were completely shocked that Holland decided to pull the trigger on the deal that's been talked about for weeks now. Unsurprisingly, no one was able to find middle ground on the trade but instead decided to leave things for a bit and see was else Holland does this offseason. From there, the conversation turned to Big Brother, which is the boys' favourite summer pastime, but unfortunately, not everyone was caught up yet but the exc

Kucherov's Interview, Pat Maroon, and Baby Birding
08/07/2021 Duración: 56minThursday means that your workweek is winding down and that the boys from the Real Life Podcast are back with a brand new episode of the show to get you set for the weekend and break down the week that was. In today’s episode, the guys discussed Tampa's Cup win, Kucherov's post-game interview, and a whole lot more. Kicking things off, the guys got the podcast started with Yaremchuk telling the story of a Wednesday wedding he attended and why he's so hungover on a Thursday. Who has a wedding on a Wednesday? It's a fair question, but that's the situation the guys started the show in. Steering the show back to the NHL, the guys talked about Nikita Kucherov's post-game interview after the star forward that left a wake of bodies behind him as it seemed like no one was safe from his ire. Changing gears, the guys then made their pitch for why you should sign up for the 2021 Oilersnation Open golf tournament that's coming up in late August, especially since we always have such an amazing time. Lastly, the guys wrapped

Kept Nuge Forever, Duncan Keith, and Listener Voicemails
05/07/2021 Duración: 01h01minThe long weekend may be over, but the boys are back with a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast to help get you going and to make sense of the world around us. This week, the guys covered the Nugent-Hopkins extension, Duncan Keith, listener voicemails, and a whole lot more. To kick things off, the guys got started with a conversation about Ryan Nugent-Hopkins re-signing for eight years since we didn't have a second podcast last week because of the holiday. From the love Baggedmilk got on Twitter after the announcement to the way 'Keep Nuge Forever' took on a life of its own over the last 10 years, having RNH stick with the team that drafted him was an exciting moment for the Nation. Somehow, talking about Nuge led the guys to talk about SlamBall for a few minutes after Chalmers rediscovered the sport recently, prompting the guys to wonder whether or not the sport could ever make a comeback. The guys also discussed the rumors that Duncan Keith could be coming to Edmonton after it was revealed that the vete

Edmonton Heatwave, Tour de France, and Retired Languages
28/06/2021 Duración: 01h02minIt's a spicy weather week here in the capital city, but the boys are back with a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast to help get you going and to make sense of the world around us. This week, the guys covered the Edmonton heatwave, disc golf, forgotten languages, and a whole lot more. To kick things off, the boys started with a quick conversation about how ridiculously hot it is in Edmonton this week, and how everybody is handling the heatwave so far. From throwing wet towels in the freezer to sleeping in front of the air conditioner to complaining about Slurpee flavours again, the boys offered their best advice on what to do to stay cool over the upcoming week. From there, the conversation turned to disc golf again as it's becoming apparent that the sport is taking over the world after a clip from this past weekend went viral. Needless to say, the guys feel like they're getting into the sport on the ground level, and the fact that it's been months since they've started talking about it and not one disc

On today’s podcast, the guys welcomed Frank Seravalli back to the podcast to talk about yesterday's announcement, and a whole lot more. Kicking off today’s podcast, the guys got started with a quick conversation about yesterday's announcement that Frank Seravalli would be joining the Network after walking away from TSN shortly before the playoffs started. Based on the reaction from yesterday's announcement, a lot of people were clearly surprised that DailyFaceoff was able to land the biggest fish in the media free agent pool. Speaking of Frank, the man himself then joined the podcast to talk a little bit about this new partnership and what it meant to him to make a change and head into the digital space. From there, the guys asked Frank for his take on varying hockey subjects ranging from the best arenas to free agency to what to expect

21/06/2021 Duración: 56minA new week has landed and that means the boys are back with a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast recorded to help make sense of the world around us. This week, the guys covered how they spent their Father's Day, learning to drive, creating a better vibe at Rogers Place, and a whole lot more. From Wanye getting a framed picture of Lil Wanye to Baggedmilk commenting on his dad's retirement gear to Yaremchuk holding hands with his old man, the guys spent a few minutes talking about their dads and what it was like to spend the day together. From there, the conversation turned to the history of NationGear as Tyler asked Wanye, Baggedmilk, and Jay about their favourite gear designs from throughout the years, and how the clothing line has evolved over the years. Getting back to the Oilers, the conversation turned to the dressing room as the boys tried to guess which Oilers wou

The Boys Launch an Answering Machine
17/06/2021 Duración: 56minThursday means that your workweek is winding down and that the boys from the Real Life Podcast have a new episode in the books and ready for your ear holes. On today’s podcast, the guys covered the new Nation HQ, disc golf, our new answering machine, current events, and a whole lot more. Kicking off today’s podcast, the guys got started with Tyler Yaremchuk's confession that he broke into the new Nation HQ building and wandered around for a little personal tour despite the fact that it's not yet opened. From the pub (Dogpatch) to the bakery (Bread + Butter) to the new recording studio, Tyer had plenty of good things to say about the new office and what's to come. Changing gears, the guys got back into their disc golf dreams after Chalmers got an email from Eric Moon, a loyal Real Life listener and avid disc chucker. Will this email be the first step to actually getting out and rattling the chains? Sticking with summer sports, Baggedmilk asked the guys for some help with his pursuit of new golf clubs now tha

Look Good, Dance Good
14/06/2021 Duración: 01h01minA new week has landed and that means the boys are back with a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast recorded to help make sense of the world around us. This week, the guys covered even more food talk, TikTok trends, Brazilian statues, and a whole lot more. To kick off the Monday episode of the Real Life podcast, the guys started the podcast in the most random way imaginable after Baggedmilk posted on Twitter that he tried the TikTok trend of eating watermelon with mustard on it. Somehow, that kicked off a chat about TikTok stars fighting each other and how Chalmers apparently knows more about the social platform than he cares to admit. Steering the show back to the Oilers, the guys reminisced about Fernando Pisani's OT goal from 15 years ago as he closed out Game 5 in the most dramatic fashion. Somehow the Oilers talk led the guys into a conversation about Brazil and how the city of Encantado is building a bigger statue of Jesus than the original that's in Rio de Janeiro. Lastly, the guys wrapped up the po

Planning the new intro, Devin Shore reaction, and Trent Wilhauk from Wilhauk Beef Jerky
10/06/2021 Duración: 01h05minAnother Thursday has landed on the calendar and that means a brand new episode of the Real Life Podcast is here and ready to get you set for the weekend. On today’s show, the guys covered their new intro, Chalmers coaching baseball, spoke to Trent Wilhauk from Wilhauk Beef Jerky, and a whole lot more. Kicking off today's podcast, the guys jumped in with a chat about the podcast intro that Tyler is working on and how Wanye demands a Soulja Boy cameo to be included. From there, the guys talked a little bit about the Edmonton Oilers, specifically the reaction that came out last night when the Oilers re-signed Devin Shore to a two-year contract. If there's one thing we all know about Oilers, it's that the fanbase is unbelievably passionate about the team and even a depth signing like Shore can kick off a firestorm. From there, the guys welcomed Trent Wilhauk from Wilhauk Beef Jerky to the podcast to talk about his passion for jerky as well how it came to be that he is now an owner of the Olds Grizzlys. Lastly, th

Fighting local media, studio updates, and disc golf
07/06/2021 Duración: 01h01minAfter what we hope was a fantastic weekend for all of you, the boys are back with a brand new episode of the Real Life podcast to get your week started. On today's show, the guys covered the Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul fight, checked in on what's going on with the new studio, disc golf, and a whole lot more. Kicking off today's podcast, the guys got started with a look back at the Logan Paul vs Floyd Mayweather fight that basically everyone was talking about for the last few weeks. Despite being a fake fight, it was incredible to see how much hype was built up around their beef regardless of the fact that it was all theatre made up by the fighters to get the people going. From there, the conversation turned to who we would all want to fight in the local media landscape regardless of whether or not there is any beef there. Next up, the guys spent some time talking about the new recording studio that is scheduled to open later this summer, and whether or not it may make sense to switch up the recording tim

Talking hockey, travel, and retirement with Luke Gazdic

Game 7 Predictions, Nostalgic TV Chat, and Stay Oilers Stay
31/05/2021 Duración: 01h06minA week removed from the disappointing playoff sweep at the hands of the Jets, the boys are back with a brand new episode of the Real Life Podcast to help make sense of what's to come for our beloved Edmonton Oilers. This week, the guys covered Game 7 between the Habs and Leafs, baseball, and a whole lot more. Kicking off today's podcast, the guys jumped in with a quick discussion about Game 7 in the series between the Canadiens and Leafs, specifically how everyone on the podcast is pulling for Montreal to complete the comeback. Needless to say, the chaos of a Toronto loss would be so much fun to watch because of what the reaction would look like amongst Leafs nation. From there, Chalmers offered up one of his classic rants about Ryan Reaves getting tossed from game one in the Vegas/Colorado series, and whether or not he knew what was going on during the melee. Next up, the conversation turned to baseball after Baggedmilk decided that he is now a big Jays guy after the Oilers were so rudely swept out of the pl

The Oilers Are Out & a Chat About Ethan Bear with Dusty LeGrande
27/05/2021 Duración: 01h05minWe are back with another episode of the Real Life Podcast and sadly, it is our first episode since the Oilers were eliminated from the playoffs. It was a tough week to be a Nation Citizen considering the Oilers were bounced and we started the podcast off by talking about the loss. We were then joined by our friend Dusty LaGrande from M.O.B.I.L.I.Z.E who talked about the unfortunate racism that Ethan Bear had to experience and the reaction to it. The Oilers season is done and we discussed how we felt about that. We also talked about why we're still feeling a little optimistic about what's next for our favourite hockey team. The end of the season also came with an ugly story surrounding Ethan Bear, who had to deal with an unfortunate racist incident. We were joined by Dusty from M.O.B.I.L.I.Z.E to talk about the incident, how Ethan handled it, and more. As always, Dusty was inspiring and really helped educate us. We wrapped up the pod with a little bit of betting talk with Scott from Oddsshark. See acast.com/

Making sense of the heartbreak
24/05/2021 Duración: 43minThe first three games of the Oilers' Stanley Cup run are in the books and, needless to say, things have not gone the way anyone would have expected which had the boys on the Real Life podcast fired up and ready to break it all down. On today's podcast, the guys looked at what's going wrong with the Oilers, previewed tonight's elimination game, and anything else that's going on in life. Kicking off today's podcast, the guys got started with a look at last night's devastating loss in game three and tried to make sense of what the hell happened. As far as disappointing losses go, this one has to rank up there with some of the most heartbreaking moments Oilers fans have experienced in recent memory. While there is still a slim chance that the Oilers may be able to come back, it goes without saying that they're going to need a whole lot of luck and hard work if they're going to get anywhere close. No matter how you slice it, this series has not gone the way that Oilers fans (and pundits) have expected and it will
