  • What are the betting odds on Big Brother?

    17/08/2020 Duración: 01h01min

A new week means a brand new episode of the Real Life Podcast to get your week started and help you navigate the strange times we're living in. On today's podcast, the boys looked at the NHL playoffs, how they can get over the Oilers getting bumped out early, and welcomed Scott Hastings from OddsShark to discuss all things sports betting.  To kick things off, the boys got started with another look at Words With Friends and how everyone on the podcast is now obsessed with the app. On last week's Thursday episode, Tyler told the story of the internet love that's been blossoming on his own Words With Friends account, which has now inspired the rest of the crew to get back in the mix to reach for podcast spelling supremacy. Getting back to hockey, the guys spent a few minutes talking about the NHL playoffs, specifically which current series is the most angering to watch. Is it the Flames who are relying on some clutch performances by former Oilers to propel them forward? Is it the Canucks who have a young, talent

  • Words With Friends With Benefits

    13/08/2020 Duración: 01h01min

Welcome to a brand new Thursday episode of the Real Life Podcast to get you caught up on everything to do with the Edmonton Oilers and life in general. This week, the boys looked at what went wrong against Chicago, what the road out of darkness might look like, and a whole lot more.   To kick things off, the boys got started by revisiting the Oilers' playoff loss and how they haven't recovered from the disappointment in the six days that have passed since they got knocked out. From the goaltending to the defensive zone coverage to lack of intensity throughout the series, the Oilers made so many mistakes that it's hard to find many positives from their play-in round against Chicago. Regardless of where your solutions come from, the Oilers will need to find a way to make some significant changes despite the lack of cap space they have to get that done. Is it possible? Only time will tell. Lastly, we wrapped up this week's podcast with a few updates on Tyler's Words With Friends girlfriend, and the heartbreaking

  • In The Blink Of An Eye

    10/08/2020 Duración: 56min

It was the best of times and it was the worst of times. After just six days, the Oilers playoff run has come to an end and we are here to tell you how we feel about it. Is there a reason to be angry? Sad? Hopeful? We let all of our emotions out this week on The Real Life Podcast (pres. by JAPA Machinery). The qualifying round series against Chicago was heartbreaking for a handful of reasons but there are still plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the future of the Edmonton Oilers. We talked about a few of them today on the podcast and also touched on the big story of the day: the NHL Draft Lottery. If the Oilers win, how could it change their plans? Also, what team do we want to see win if it's not the Edmonton Oilers? We answered those questions. We also kicked off a new segment! Every Monday on the podcast we will be joined by Scott Hastings from Oddsshark to go in-depth on the world of sports betting, with a close focus on the NHL! Thanks for listening in and hearing us vent about the Oilers. Don't for

  • Hope Will Never Die

    06/08/2020 Duración: 56min

Welcome, Nation, to a brand new Thursday episode of the Real Life Podcast to get you caught up on all things Edmonton Oilers and life in general. On today’s podcast, we looked at the Oilers' play-in series versus the Chicago Blackhawks, the hilarity of the 50/50, and a whole lot more.  To kick things off, the boys jumped in with a look at last night's hockey game, which was obviously a disappointing way to spend a Wednesday night. Even so, the boys were not without optimism as they looked ahead at Game 4 and what the Oilers need to do to ensure they stretch this series to a five. From top to bottom, Edmonton will need to get more juice from basically everyone if they plan on playing another game on Saturday. Changing gears, the guys looked at the 50/50's incredible run during Oilers game days and wondered what it would be like if we were able to sell raffle tickets in every day for a different aspect of life. Getting back to the Oilers, the guys talked about the need to bring more "fire" and "competitiveness"

  • Oilers need to rebound, McDavid's leadership, and betting on hockey

    03/08/2020 Duración: 34min

Welcome, citizens, to a brand new Monday episode of the Real Life Podcast to get your week started. On today’s show, we preview tonight's game against the Chicago Blackhawks, the podcast hockey pool, betting, and a whole lot more. To start off today's podcast, the guys recapped Saturday's game and looked at some of the issues that need to be correct ahead of Game 2. From the goaltending to the defensive coverage to competing at 5-on-5, the Oilers will need to improve every aspect of their game if they have any hopes of tying up the series. From there, the guys looked at Adrian Dater's hot take that Connor McDavid's "bland personality" does not inspire his teammates, which has to be one of the most laughably ridiculous opinions of all time. Perhaps that's why he deleted the tweet, huh? Next up, we looked at some of the bets the boys have been putting down on the playoffs so, including the weird prop bets and tactics they've employed to try and win themselves some money. Lastly, they wrapped up this week's podc

  • A Meme Worthy Playoff Preview

    30/07/2020 Duración: 54min

For the first time in four months, we had hockey to talk about! The guys were joined by 'Memeamoto' this week to do a full playoff preview! They started off the podcast by talking about their first impressions of the Battle of Alberta 'Exhibition Edition'! It was the first time seeing the new NHL set up on TV & everyone was pretty pleased with it! We also shared the little things we missed about watching Oilers hockey. Connor McDavid looked amazing in the first game back even though it looked like he was only at 60% effort. The special teams looked good as well. There was plenty of 'kool-aid' drinking! Chalmers also grilled young Memeamoto on what it's like to be running an account with over 10k followers on Instagram. They also talked about the most enjoyable way to watch a big game. Since the playoffs get going in under 48 hours, we also took a look at the most interesting series' in both the Western and Eastern Conferences. We ended the podcast with an exciting announcement regarding future shows &

  • Hub city amenities, chicken wings, and the NHL playoffs

    27/07/2020 Duración: 58min

Welcome, loyal citizens, to a brand new Monday episode of the Real Life Podcast that’s ready and locked in to get you set for playoff week. This week, the guys looked at the NHL's return, life in the bubble, NBA problems, and a whole lot more.    To kick off this week's podcast, the guys jumped in with a look at what is certainly a very exciting week in the world of hockey as the NHL's fourth phase of their return to play plan kicks off this week. With players arriving in Edmonton and Toronto over the past couple of days, we're starting to get a look at what the amenities are like inside the bubble and the boys were certainly impressed by the initial glimpses we've seen so far. Somehow life in the bubble spawned a conversation about Chalmers' new Traeger smoker that he bought, including all of its features and the wings he plans on cooking in the coming weeks. After getting the show back on the rails, the boys discussed all things Seattle Kraken (jerseys, logo, name, colours) and briefly wondered what's going

  • Talking hockey and life with Jack Michaels

    20/07/2020 Duración: 01h01min

Welcome, citizens, to a brand new Monday episode of the Real Life Podcast that's ready and primed to get your week started. On today’s show, the guys were thrilled to welcome Edmonton Oilers play-by-play announcer, Jack Michaels, to talk about his journey in broadcasting, the upcoming playoffs, and a whole lot more.   To kick off today's episode, the boys jumped in with a look at Jack Michaels' career and how he rose the ranks from the ECHL to the NHL, including a brief math lesson after Yaremchuk bungled his 10,000 hours metaphor. Thankfully those math skills weren't preventative in lining up today's guest for the podcast. Speaking of getting one's at-bats in, it's almost hard to imagine that Jack Michaels has been calling Oilers games for more than a decade after a winding journey that saw him announce 919 minor-league games in Alaska. Thankfully, Jack was happy to tell the story about how he ended up in the City of Champions and what it was like to finally get the call after so much time grinding in the EC

  • Cider Wars and Betting on the Playoffs

    16/07/2020 Duración: 51min

Welcome, citizens, to a brand new Thursday episode of the Real Life Podcast to wrap up your week. On today’s show, the guys look at ciders, sports betting, the Masterton Trophy, and a whole lot more. To kick off today's podcast, the boys started the podcast with an argument about cider and whether or not a company should be able to offer multiple variations of cider. Some might suggest that this was a pointless way to start off a podcast, but the boys felt it was important to argue about it anyway. Getting back to hockey, the guys looked at sports betting leading into the playoffs and whether or not anyone is putting some money down on the Oilers to make a move. Somehow a conversation about betting on hockey turned into another argument about superstitions being real with some of the guys thinking they're silly while others buy into the concept of juju. From there, the podcast took a weird turn as Baggedmilk wanted to know how much water everyone is drinking on a daily basis, leading Chalmers to confess that

  • Hockey is back!

    13/07/2020 Duración: 57min

Welcome, citizens, to a brand new Monday episode of the Real Life Podcast to get your week started. On today’s show, the guys looked at the start of training camps, playoff facial hair, the Olympics, and a whole lot more.  To kick off today's podcast, the boys got started with a look at NHL training camps that kicked off around the league today and how excited they all were to see the Oilers back on the ice. Not only was it fun to see the players getting back on the ice, but it was also hilarious to see some of the playoff beards, moustaches, chops, and any other combination that the players have come up with. In addition to getting back to Rogers Place, the Oilers also announced the #WeSkateForColby hashtag as a tribute to the late Colby Cave and the guys spent a few minutes talking about how important it is to keep his memory alive. Getting away from the NHL, the guys also looked at the league's return to the Olympics and had a discussion about which Oilers could be getting tapped to play. Lastly, the guys

  • Shooting shots, catfishing, and mood boards

    09/07/2020 Duración: 52min

Welcome, fair citizens, to a brand new Thursday episode of the Real Life Podcast. On today's show, the guys looked at everything from memes to mood boards to catfishing to junior golf and everything in between. To kick off today's episode, the boys got started with a look at the memes that get posted around the Nation and Oodle Noodle accounts and how Baggedmilk and Wanye get the ideas. However, as anyone that listens to the podcast regularly has come to expect, the conversation was quickly interrupted by shenanigans and poor audio quality as most of the hosts weren't even in the group chat when the podcast started. Somehow, the next topic revolved around Tyler making a possible love connection on Words With Friends after matching up with a random senior and maintaining their back-and-forth over the last few months. From there, the guys used an ATB live broadcast that Jay participated in this morning on Facebook and turned the conversation to mood boards and what dreams are still left unchecked on everyone's

  • "Are there any hot button topics you need my opinion on?"

    06/07/2020 Duración: 01h02min

Welcome, Nation, to a brand new episode of the Real Life Podcast. This week, the guys looked at old golf stories, Connor McDavid's house, the return of Big Brother, and a whole lot more.    To kick off this week's podcast, the boys started with a look at Chalmers' golf game and whether or not he would be able to compete in a high-end junior tournament. Since he was on his way to knock out 18 holes while the podcast was being recorded, the guys discussed some of their favourite golf moments from years passed. With the walk down memory lane out of the way, the conversation turned to Bryson DeChambeau's meltdown at the PGA after he was filmed making a bad shot and freaking out about it. Changing gears, the boys discussed whether the Oilers have any kind of advantage seeing as the NHL will be using Edmonton as a hub city. Does the fact that Edmonton would be able to get dressed in their own dressing give them any kind of leg up on the opposition? Sticking with hockey, Tyler asked the boys a hypothetical question

  • 4am Mosh Pit with Chris Segger from Striker

    02/07/2020 Duración: 01h03min

Welcome, fair citizens, to another Thursday episode of the Real Life Podcast. This week, the guys were thrilled to welcome Juno award-winning musician, Chris Segger, to the show to talk about his love for the Oilers, making metal music, and a whole lot more.   To kick off today’s podcast, the boys got started with a look at Edmonton being named as a hub city for the upcoming NHL playoffs and what that means going forward. Now that the City of Champions will be named as an NHL hub, the boys discussed whether or not it was surprising that Edmonton actually got the call after it seemed like player safety was taking a back seat to the what the players wanted to do. With the NHL's return seeming more and more likely, the boys also discussed what they plan on doing to support the team when this fanless tournament actually gets going. Changing gears entirely, the boys were pumped to welcome Chris Segger from the band, Striker, to talk about his recent Juno win, the celebration that followed, and what's to come for t

  • Draft Lotto Madness!

    29/06/2020 Duración: 52min

Happy Monday and welcome to another edition of The Real Life Podcast! This week's episode features a short staff but there were plenty of topics to debate. Yaremchuk managed to explain what happened at the NHL Draft Lottery on Friday and that led to a big debate about whether it'd be better for the Oilers to go on a long playoff run this season or pick first overall. From there, they discussed the NHL's recent announcement that 26 players have tested positive for COVID-19 and how that could affect the league's return. They also threw around the idea of players opting out of the return and how that could be perceived by both fans and the other players in the league. Today is also the four year anniversary of the Taylor Hall trade and the 30 minutes of madness that happened. The trio talked about their initial thoughts on the deal and if they think the Oilers won that trade. Also, since it was just the three football fans on the pod, they also dove into the Cam Newton signing and the beautiful smokescreen that

  • Tarps off with Brett Kissel

    25/06/2020 Duración: 01h30min

Welcome, fair citizens, to another Thursday episode of the Real Life Podcast. This week, the guys were thrilled to welcome country star, Brett Kissel, to the show to talk about his love for the Oilers, country music, and a whole lot more.   To kick off today's podcast, we got started with a look at the Edmonton Donair Championship celebration that took place at Famous Donair out in Sherwood Park this afternoon after the boys wrapped up the brackets last week. As always, the Nation came out in droves to support Famous Donair and Jay was thrilled to tell the story of today's victory party. Thankfully, the podcast turned away from the food talk to welcome country music star, Brett Kissel, to the podcast to talk about the Live at the Drive-In concert he held at the River Cree, which was not only meant to raise money for an amazing cause but also happened to be the first-ever such event to happen in Canada. From there, the conversation steered into Brett's career and how he fell in love with country music at a you

  • Hub City decisions and Dusty LeGrande from Mobilize

    22/06/2020 Duración: 01h03min

A new week is fresh out of the package and that means the boys from the Real Life Podcast were back with a brand new episode to kick start your week. On today's podcast, the guys looked at NHL hub cities, whether Edmonton deserves the nod, and welcomed Dusty LeGrande from Mobilize to talk about Ethan Bear and an upcoming NationGear collaboration.   To kick off this week's podcast, the boys jumped in with a look at the Father's Day weekend and how everyone spent the day. Somehow that conversation spawned a look back at the TV show Unsolved Mysteries and how all of the boys used to watch it back in the day, creeping themselves out and losing nights of sleep in the process. Getting back to sports, TSN's Ryan Rishaug tweeted earlier today that the Oilers Entertainment Group has stepped up their bid for Edmonton to be a hub city, including increased amenities for families, golf course access for players, hotels, and much more. As the NHL works towards its decision on hub cities, the guys discussed whether or not t

  • "You've got to have a criminal mind"

    18/06/2020 Duración: 53min

Welcome, fair citizens, to yet another Thursday episode of the Real Life Podcast. This week, the guys talk about their favourite crime stories, the Connor McDavid rookie card auction, and a whole lot more.   To kick off today's podcast, the boys jumped in with a look at crime and vandalism. Last night, Baggedmilk's vehicle had a window broken on it which is certainly annoying, but that led into a classic Chalmers story about a time when his truck was stolen and he hit the streets to find the culprit. Without giving away any details, this story had the boys laughing out loud from start to finish and we guarantee that you're going to want to hear the tale. Who knew there was such a passionate crime fighter on the podcast? From there, the rest of the boys told stories about their own attempts at vigilante justice and the resulting rush that came as a result. Getting back to sports, the boys looked at the Connor McDavid rookie card that is currently up for auction with a mindblowing current bid of $93,534 USD. Ob

  • Jordan Buhat, Edmonton's Efron

    15/06/2020 Duración: 56min

Welcome, fair citizens, to the Monday episode of the Real Life Podcast. Today, the boys were happy to welcome Grown-ish star, Jordan Buhat, to the podcast to talk about the Oilers, acting, his come up, and whatever else was going on. To kick off today's podcast, the guys jumped into today's show with a look at the return of golf over the weekend and how much it meant to be able to watch live sports again. For Tyler, the return of golf also meant that it was another chance for him to place some bets and subsequently get roasted on Twitter for his losses. Changing gears entirely, the boys were thrilled to welcome Jordan Buhat to the podcast to talk about his acting career, his love for the Oilers, and what's been happening since the world turned upside down. To start off the interview, the boys jumped in with a look at Jordan's backstory and how he got into acting, including his time at the U of A where his original plan was to be a gym teacher. After making the decision that being a teacher was not for him, Jo

  • Sports are back... kinda

    11/06/2020 Duración: 47min

Welcome, fair citizens, to the Thursday episode of the Real Life Podcast. For the uninitiated, it's the show where the boys start out with an agenda and get around to talking about absolutely none of it. Enjoy.   To kick off today's podcast, the guys jumped in with a look at the PGA coming back to the TV schedule today and what it was like to be able to watch sports again. For Tyler, the return of golf means an opportunity to bet on sports again. For Baggedmilk and Jay, having golf on TV means a fantastic chance to watch some weekend sports on the couch. Sticking with couch watching sports, the guys got into a conversation about what is the best sport or TV show to nap to. Needless to say, these three nap aficionados had plenty of ideas for the perfect program to doze off to. Changing gears, the NHL announced that Phase 3 of their return to play plan will be set to launch on July 10th, the guys started talking about what life will be life for a fanless playoff season. Would it make sense to pump in crowd nois

  • Oil Change Revisited

    08/06/2020 Duración: 55min

A new week is out of the package and that means the boys from the Real Life Podcast were back with a brand new episode to get you through the week.   To kick off today's podcast, the guys jumped in with a look at every episode of Oil Change being up on YouTube and whether or not anyone would consider re-watching the series. Would it be worth reliving the awfulness of that time period by watching the series again, or would it actually be fun to look back at the hardships we lived through to end up with McDavid? Looking back at Oil Change prompted a conversation about a laundry list of players that have come into Edmonton and tried to fight above their weight class only to leave for a better opportunity with another organization. Changing gears, the guys looked at Phase 2 of the NHL's return to play plan and whether or not seeing players on the ice is making everyone more excited or if it's still too soon to tell. Lastly, the boys wrapped up today's episode by answering some listener questions, including a very
