In His High Priestly Prayer, Jesus prays, but not indiscriminately. He prays for those who are His, those who have been given to Him by the Father.

In this prayer, our Savior reminds us that His redeemed people were taken out of the world by the Father and given to the Son, showing us the truth of divine election.

It is important for us to think about what Jesus accomplished so that we sinners could be forgiven and reconciled to God. It is a work that only Jesus could do.

Our Lord opens His prayer by asking His Father to glorify Him so that the Father would be glorified. And we learn that the true purpose of the salvation of sinners is the glory of God.

Jesus tells us to “take heart,” that is, not to be troubled because He will win the victory. Our great hope is in knowing that it is Jesus who is “Overcoming the World.”

One of the things that Christians take for granted is prayer. The Bible teaches us that prayer is a great privilege that was purchased for us by Jesus on the cross.

One of the great promises that Christ’s people have from Him is that our “sorrow will turn to joy.”

The Holy Spirit speaks the things that belong to the Son, and the Son has all that belongs to the Father. There is no separation of purpose or will in the Father, Son, and Spirit.
