In recent years, the presumption of innocence has become eroded. The National Emergencies Act of 1976 says the president "has available certain powers that may be exercised in the event that the nation is threatened by crisis, exigency, or emergency circumstances (other than natural disasters, war, or near-war situations)." President Donald Trump has announced that he is declaring a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border, and he plans to redirect up to $8 billion in federal money to build a border barrier to keep foreigners from illegally entering the country. Beto O'Rourke declared emphatically that he not only opposes building “the Wall”, but he also wants all existing border fences torn down, including outside his home town of El Paso. New Jersey made history this month by becoming the fourth state in the nation to create an alternative option on its birth certificates beyond male and female. Starting Feb. 1, there is a new category on birth certificates "undesignated/ non-binary" also known as Gender X. The idea being that you will let your newborn decide for themselves later “what their gender is”. Now, anyone can switch the gender on their birth certificate to either male or female or select the new "undesignated" category. Senator Ben Sasse (R-NB) requested a unanimous consent vote for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, that vote was held this past Monday and Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) objected to protecting survivors of attempted abortions. Virginia Democratic Lt.
