Dwarfcasts (a Red Dwarf Podcast)

It seems almost every DwarfCast we put out at the moment comes with us apologising for the delays at the beginning. This particular recording comes from only a few months ago, though, so we're getting closer to a sensible schedule. As Ian noted in the last DwarfCast post, this represents the first series we've completed in the seven years we've been doing these stupid commentaries (save for Back to Earth, but shush) so it's a little bit of a milestone. Consequently, we took the opportunity to have a bit of a post-commentary chat on series 1 in general to wrap things up and generally get back into the swing of this 'talking about Red Dwarf' lark.

Join G&T's Ian Symes and Danny Stephenson, along with hangers-on Rich Lawden, Jezzmund Tutu and Tom Pyott, as we transmogrify your minds and talk all over the top of Series IV episode two DNA. We discuss the unusually high proportion of movie references, Lister's journey to the centre of the moral compass, decades-old editing techniques and the demise of video clubs. We actually recorded this about six months ago, but we've been putting the edit off, due to a tricky situation caused by the coming together of Danny's arse and the 'next chapter' button on the DVD remote. Hopefully you won't see the joins.

Yes, the least reliable Red Dwarf podcast in the universe is BACK. Brilliant. We return once more to the realm of episode commentaries by going almost back to the beginning for Future Echoes. Does it justify its reputation as an all time classic? Is there a pre-determination paradox at play? What's the deal with the light above Lister's bunk? Join us as we fail to answer these questions and more, with G&T regulars Ian Symes and Danny Stephenson joined by very ordinary guests Jezzmund Tutu, Rich Lawden and Tom Pyott.

It's DwarfCast time once again, and this time we're dusting off another commentary recorded on the anniversary weekend, spruced up a bit by a more recent, and possibly ill-advised, commentary on the DVD extra Backwards Forwards. Rejected options for the bonus extra for this 'cast was Hattie's DJ Diary, and 20 minutes of bitter, teary complaints about the broken menu on Disc 2. I think we chose wisely.

Get out your map, identify the nearest hill, and bloodly well run for it because G&T are doing a Red Dwarf VIII commentary and that shit's never pretty. In previous years the Krytie TV commentary decended into a pathetic, drunken argument, and the commentary for Cassandra was so soul crushingly depressing that we never even bothered releasing it.

It takes a special type of willful negligence to leave G&T so rarely updated since the 25th Anniversary earlier this year, but we've somehow managed to top that by completely forgetting we had two DwarfCasts sat in the bank ready to be published all this time.  Oh well!

Another Dimension Jump has once again come and gone, and we're all left to pick up the emotional and physical pieces as we try to recover from the best weekend in any given calendar year. It was an odd year for G&T as more than half of our number were involved in the running of the weekend, but as always we still found time for the traditional round-up DwarfCast.

Once more the G&T team have assembled to talk about one of them Red Dwarf episodes everyone seems to like these days, and also cover another series of deleted scenes, worts and all. The voices in which Justice will be done are: Ian Symes, John Hoare, Tanya Jones, Daniel Stephenson, Jonathan Capps and the Fan Club's Jo Sharples.

To celebrate Red Dwarf's twenty-fifth anniversary, we held a small gathering in West London in order to broadcast a load of old Dwarf-related ramblings live to the assembled masses. Yes, this is a very special Christmas edition of Dwarfcasts, which differs from a normal Dwarfcast in two key ways. Firstly, it has jingle bells at the start, and secondly, there's a load of self-indulgent festive waffle at the end. So marvel at our Christmassed-up jingle, listen to me, Cappsy, John, Tanya and Danny waffle about Psirens (the most Christmassy of all Red Dwarf episodes) and then tolerate us as we run through some of our plans for the 25th anniversary year.

The full complement of G&T staffers - Cappsy, John, Tanya, Danny and Ian - are on hand to talk you through wonky ships, creased foreheads and dead women. But that's not all! When are people going to realise - Red Dwarf X is OVER. To bridge the extremely small gap between the final episode being broadcast and the Bluray/DVD being released, here's a collection of all our Series X related interviews. These were originally dotted around our massive instant reaction Dwarfcasts, so we thought we'd bring them all together in one place for your comfort and convenience. It's the final instant reaction Dwarfcast of the series, beset from all sides by technical problems that make Red Dwarf X's production look like a walk in the park. But still, this version of the 'cast is the definitive way to listen to how me, Cappsy, Danny, John, Tanya and TORDFC'S Jo reacted to The Beginning, joined along the way by special guests Jonathan 'Jonsmad' Young and Seb 'Seb' Patrick. It's the 40th Dwarfcast, and the fifth of our live Series X Instant Reaction chinwags, lovingly made not-live and downloadable, with improved sound quality, but no improvement in any other branch of quality. This week, we're talking about Dear Dave, and in keeping with the episode itself, we flit all over the place, cramming in as many topics as possible, without any satisfying conclusion. It's exactly the same as the version we broadcast live - mistakes and all - but with vastly improved sound quality.
