For Andrew Schultz, who has autism, the lunchroom was especially lonely, “pretty much mostly sadness,’ he shares. “For a mom, that’s very hard.” Lisa was motivated to go to God for help, on her knees, “asking God just to send Andrew one friend…just for one, to fill that loneliness.” Lisa’s heartfelt mom-to-Jesus prayer was soon answered and the blessing was “multiplied beyond my imagination.”

    Tim Carentz worked as a young Air Force medic at the Pentagon crash site. He suffered his first panic attack the next year and was eventually diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). After struggling with nightmares, fits of rage and suicidal thoughts, he finally reached out to a chaplain for help. Leaning on faith in Jesus and the support of his military community, he retired from the USAF as a Chief Master Sergeant and now operates Kaiserslautern Military Resiliency Center for families stationed in Germany where he currently resides. Min, stood in sacred silence alongside firefighters and chaplains at Ground Zero when human remains were found in the rubble of what recovery workers called ‘The Pile.’ His experience revealed the awful truth that most first responders are not properly trained to process their own very normal human emotions in the face of tragedy. No. “Something just told me that, like, ‘it was going to be okay.’ That God was going to be with me.” Joel plucked 17 people from rooftops and other uncomfortable places. One flood survivor he helped told him about a girl clinging to a tree, with a dog. They found her, still holding that dog she had rescued, and got both to safety. It wouldn’t be fully known until some days later, but 22 lives were lost in the dramatic flood that floated cars and wrecked homes. In our podcast, Joel shares how his faith has grown as God has directly answered prayers. He also tells us how people he rescued responded, including one fellow who simply said, ‘Thanks for the ride, man.”
