By Richard Hunt “The blessings of God were like a hot potato.” Pastor Matthew Barnett shares the amazing story. “We kept our food line going for over 350 straight days in a row, people coming by to get meals, food, diapers, everything. And what we thought would last for one week has turned into over a year and, even today, cars are lined up everywhere coming through.”

Monika Kelly talks with Lisa Scarpinato, the founder and CEO of Kitchen on the Street, a non-profit program to help feed thousands of school-age children on the weekends with Bags of Hope. These are children who were often going hungry when they weren't able to eat federally-funded food when school hours were over.

By Richard Hunt So many homes with frozen, burst pipes and no water - some residents had not experienced an actual bath or shower for 2 weeks. In some cases, ceilings were brought down by free-flowing water from broken pipes, walls were damaged, as were household belongings. Paul, and others who volunteered, worked in conjunction with 2 organizations, Water Mission and Plumbers Without Borders. In our podcast, Paul shares how the Lord, and his wife, encouraged him to go on his first mission trip, which was to Africa some years back. He knew God was asking him to use his skills to show the Love of Christ to others. And that can-do mindset continues today for both the Mitchells.

Robert Beeson was suddenly a single dad. “My wife left me -- and left me with our three daughters who were 9, 7 and 4 at the time. It was the darkest season.” He turned to his church for comfort and support but was saddened to find very few Christian resources address the deep loneliness and doubt many single parents endure. Out of his own need to be part of a welcoming faith community, he founded the Solo Parent Society. “The number one need (as a single parent) is for you to know you are not alone.” K-LOVE’s Marya Morgan reports. By Richard Hunt Dr. Beth Delaney, associate professor of nursing at Cedarville University, also shares her firsthand observations of what some patients seem to be seeing and doing moments before entering eternity. It could well be described as supernatural. As part of their End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) undergraduate curriculum, the school of nursing conducts simulation experiences for senior nursing students during their Leadership and Management class. In these simulation experiences, the school of nursing is transformed into Cedarville University Medical Center. Students role play a clinical care situation with a computerized mannequin who is described to have cirrhosis of the liver. By Richard Hunt Oasis Church is sending a special digital image onboard NASA’s moon rover. “We became aware of a YouTube influencer who had purchased space on a NASA rover that’s going to the moon.” He offered fans an opportunity to send him a picture or video that would be placed in a digital time capsule that will be on that rover. “And so we thought, ‘You know what, let’s do that. Let’s build some memories here. Let’s do something fun and creative – particularly when physical distancing is such a challenge.’ We thought, ‘Let’s get together. Let’s do a Zoom call and let’s take a picture together… and send that image to the moon!’” In our complete podcast interview below, Pastor Jody Skogen will share the specific Bible verses that were written on the outer border of the Zoom still image that’s going to the lunar surface.

Soldiers For Faith launched ‘call-in’ bible studies back in 2012, but stay-at-home orders in 2020 crystalized the ministry purpose and mission. They deliberately avoid video. “There’s something about just picking up the telephone, not having that judgement,” explains ministry founder Kelly McAndrew. “It’s just absolutely pure to be on the phone, to hear people’s voices, to hear their hearts.” K-LOVE's Rafael Sierra reports.

Our eyes can’t even show you what we see, but the pain that health care workers are feeling today…I’ve seen so many healthcare workers suffer from compassion fatigue and secondary trauma because of what they’ve experienced having to be the gap-to-close between the family and the patient, when they’re dying, holding their hand when they die - and to experience that over-and-over-and-over again is exhausting.”

By Richard Hunt Matthew is a successful Christian music artist who lends his talent and support to select ministries and projects that help others. “What separates Christian music from the rest of the world is God at work through the lyrics and the melodies, shooting straight to the hearts of people.” And when a song he has written and performed can be of benefit to an outreach helping others, Matthew is often willing to come alongside and lend his name and talent to their project. That’s the case with a ministry called Cancer Companions.

He built them kid-size desks… for free! “I felt God kind of led me, you know, on the whole thing.” Inspired by God and driven by compassion, Chambers, owner of Gateway Construction & Development, wanted to “give these kids something that they can create their own space to do some learning.” He had heard of young students curling into closets and other areas to try and find a quiet and productive place to do their schoolwork. And he realized an appropriate size desk could make a big difference.
