Episode 01: Rebuilding the American City
07/10/2016 Duración: 30minThis week, Matt talks with David Gamble, architect and urban planner specializing in urban design, about the importance of bringing community and economic development together through planning and engagement. David is the principal of Gamble Associates based in Cambridge, MA, and has been a lecturer in Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design since 2009. David has spent 25 years working in urban settings and within the context of public engagement, including guiding the planning of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus since its inception in 2002. He recently published “Rebuilding the American City” with co-author Patty Heyda (Washington University). David and Matt talk about the current trend of migration back to urban environments, the pros and cons of the role that sports can play to a city’s collective psyche, how anchor districts are relying on design of both public and private space to help attract “knowledge workers” to their campuses, and the focus on building healthier communities.
