  • Are you living a life too small for you? : Amber Sandberg: 228

    23/02/2021 Duración: 23min

Have you ever wondered if you are living your life to your fullest potential? Do you ever feel like you are playing too small? You see people out there doing big things and you know you have it in you to do something but you feel too scared? Today I am going to talk to you guys about figuring out your "second act"! Sometimes it's easy to over look what your talents are, and it can leave you feeling like you don't have anything special to offer. But if you can think about the things other people compliment you on or ask for your help with that will give you some insight to what you may be good at.  It's so much easier for others to see our talents then it is for us to really see them. Also 2020 was challenging for most of us and you might feel like your progress got stalled or maybe you didn't even begin what you were hoping to start, maybe you feel like you even went backwards but I wanted to encourage you to think differently! What if we weren't "starting over", what if we were just picking back up where

  • Why setting boundaries are important: Whitney Caves: 227

    16/02/2021 Duración: 45min

Are you a people pleaser and feel like you just can't say "no"? Today we Whitney Caves, a licensed professional counselor on the show to talk about, people pleasing, saying "no" and setting boundaries.  Whitney shares with us that she feels like it can be destructive when we try to do everything and always say "yes".  We talked about when we actually say "no" to opportunities even if they are good opportunities it leaves space for us to say "yes" for even better opportunities.  I like how she mentioned that when we take on too much it can start to feel like an obligation.  We know that feeling, we might be saying "yes" but our gut is saying no but we don't want to let someone down or come off rude and so it's important to know we don't have to please everyone and quite frankly we can't please everyone!  One topic that stood out to me are boundaries and why they are not wrong, bad or mean and that they actually protect the people and things that matter to us the mo

If you listened to Ginger's last episode 148 you know that Ginger is a Christian author and speaker so to hear she was a rebellious teen was quite surprising. So when she shared her story how her parents became Christians when she was 18 it truly changed her life drastically.  Starting at the beginning of her senior year she decided to move out because she didn't want to follow the new rules that her parents were putting in place and that was just the beginning.  Instead of her parents shutting her out they kept encouraging her to come back home and kept sharing their faith with her.  Eventually after some major decisions she made in her life that she came to regret she decided to come back home.  One story that stood out to me is when  her dad came into her room and said "little girl I need to ask you for your forgiveness, I have b

Lindsay shares with us what it's like to move and cultivating a community before lockdown and how she would of done somethings differently if she had known what was coming.  We talked about how if she would of known that 9 months after moving that there would of been a pandemic that she would of focused less on work and more on building friendships and creating a community for when times were tough.  Lindsay shared with us that when reaching out to friends it's really good to ask specific questions, vs. just saying "how are you?", to ask "how can I pray for you?" that way it let's your friends know that you really care about their answer and that you are special to them.
