This morning we are wrapping up our Winter Sermon Series: Abundant Living, here at FBC. As you listen today, we are looking at the passage right after the fruit of the Spirit are listed as Paul reminds us that against the things of the Spirit, 'there is no law'...there is no condemnation for those who practice such things. For those who exhibit the love of Christ, the joy of Christ, the peace of Christ, the patience of Christ, his kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, the law does not bring condemnation...rather these things, and Christ working in us are fulfillment of the law in us. This morning is our 2nd to last sermon in our Winter Sermon Series: Abundant Living. We are visiting the last of the fruit of the Spirit, found in Galatians 5, and talking about 'self-control'. This last fruit is one of the most crucial, simply because it addresses the idea of what/who it is that controls us. Scripture speaks of us being slaves to sin, or slaves to righteousness; and if we are slaves to righteousness we will exhibit a Spirit filled, Spirit driven, and Spirit controlled life that shows moderation and temperance in all that we do. This morning we are continuing in our Winter Series. As we near the end of this series, the last 2 of the fruit of the Spirit speak the the way that we interact with other people. Paul reminds us in Philippians 4 that we have a need as Christians, to approach life and other people with a gentle spirit. Christians have the ability to reflect the gentleness of Christ in the ways that we interact with other people. Enjoy and be bless as you listen and study with us.

This morning we are joined by Russell and Cliff Willms, as they share their report of the work they have been doing in Uganda over the last few years. Russell is a member of FBC and has gone on the last few trips with his brother, Cliff. Cliff works with the Navigators and works intentionally with young men and women in mentorship programs and have been working on discipline young people into Godly men and women who love their families and serve their church. This morning we are continuing in our Winter Sermon Series: "Abundant Living" and studying together about the concept of faithfulness and what it means to be faithful in God's eyes. We are very privileged to have a retired pastor in our congregation and this morning he is bringing the Word at First Baptist!

This morning as we go through Part 6 of our Winter Sermon Series: Abundant Living, we are looking now at what Paul means when he says that one fruit of the Spirit of God is the fruit of goodness. We will be exploring what it means to be good by God's standard and how we can follow the example of Jesus goodness toward us and everyone else. This morning we are continuing in our Winter Sermon Series: Abundant Living, and studying about the kindness that Jesus calls us to. We know that God shows benevolent kindness to us in salvation, but this morning we learn that God intends that His kindness toward us is to spur us on to kindness toward others. As we continue in our Winter Sermon Series 'Abundant Living', we are now looking at the fruit that Paul calls patience. Patience is something that people of today's world lack to great degrees. From the meals we order at restaurants to the roads we drive on, patience is something that visibly is missing among most people. This morning we are looking at the patience that the Christian is called to in light of his/her salvation! I hope you will be blessed as you study with us and that you will be encouraged!

This morning we are looking at the next fruit of the Spirit: peace. We all know that people long to live peaceful/peaceable lives. We long for peace in life. And yet we struggle to find it. Jesus declares that he came to give us a peace, not a peace that the world gives, but HIS peace. Join us as we study what this peace looks like and how Christians can live in light of it. This morning we are continuing in our 'Abundant Living' series and studying together about the joy that Christ intended Believers life with. We live in a world that seems to lack joy in most instances, or at least searches for joy in 'improved circumstances'...we learn from the example of David and Paul both that joy is not found in our circumstance, rather joy is found in our standing with God. This morning we embark on our Winter Sermon Series - "Abundant Living" and in doing so we will be studying what Jesus means when he tells us that he came to 'give life, and give it abundantly'. We start by looking at what it means to be abundantly loving. God shows us through Galatians, that the Christian life and the things that the Spirit brings to the Christian are summed up in Galatians 5, and as such we will study each of those fruit and how we can live them to the fullest. This morning we are embarking on a new journey together. We are studying today the reality that for all who have been saved, that is all who have placed their trust in Christ, we proclaim that we have been given the Spirit of God. And as the recipients of that Spirit, we are told by Jesus that he came to give us life abundant. Our new series will walk us through what that abundance is, and what it means to live abundantly as a Christian. Be blessed as you listen and check back next week for the first sermon in the series.

This morning we are taking a moment to look at the Psalms together, and see David's calling to us to worship God, and to give him thanks. Through this we will investigate how David was able to give thanks in all circumstances, and how we can be expected to give thanks during good times and bad times alike. This morning we are studying Ezra chapter 4, and learning about the persecution that the Israelites were facing from their neighbors. We learn from the Israelites about what it means to be faithful in the midst of persecution, and the midst of being despised by the world and by society. Christians today are in much the same boat and it is becoming increasingly so. Enjoy and be blessed as we study together about what it means to be faithful to God's commands and trust him in an increasingly divisive culture.

This morning, we are continuing through the book of Galatians and as we do so, we turn our eyes toward Paul's teaching about how we are saved and how we are sanctified. Perhaps today, as was the case then, we focus too much on what we contribute to our salvation, and we don't spend enough time resting in the truth of what God does in saving us. Today, we have gathered to reflect on this truth, but more than that, to REST in it!

This morning we continue through our study in Galatians. Today, we look at chapter 2 and Paul's cautions about ways that people seek to earn God's favor. Paul is continually wanting to teach his hearers about their salvation...that is has nothing to do with things that they have done, but rather their salvation is due to the faith that God has granted them. Today we continue in our study through Galatians, and we follow Paul's defense of the Gospel he preaches, and his conversion. From this text we learn about Paul's conversion and in turn the conversion that God brings into our lives. Be blessed and enjoy as you listen and study with us!

This morning we are continuing in our study through Galatians and looking now and Paul's perspective on whom he should be concerned about. For most Christians today, the fear of other people and what they might think of us, or worse yet, do to us, is a driving force behind things we do or do not do. Paul shows us the importance of remembering who we truly answer to and who we should be considering when we think about doing certain things. Be blessed this morning as you listen and study with us.

Today, we are continuing through Galatians, and we are going to study, how Paul focuses on the message of the false teachers. False teaching has been around in the life of the church for sometime, and still continues to be an issue in the church. Paul gives us great insight into how we can discern truth from false in a modern age. God bless and enjoy!

This morning we are continuing in our study through Galatians and as we continue we look now at the way that Christians were following the teaching of the Judaizers, and how easy it is for believers today to be taken away by false teaching. We are reminded this morning of the calling for believers to contend for the one true Gospel in the midst of a world that is constantly throwing false Gospels at us.
