25/10/2020 Duración: 02minIs this win better than yesterday's win? Did that loss hurt more than your previous losses? Usually, the one that we are experiencing now is stronger, because it's now. Find Your Moments Of Control #1059
24/10/2020 Duración: 01minThere are so many areas of our lives where we simply don't have much control. Even situations where we tell ourselves that we do have some control, like our work or even our family situation, when we really dig a littler deeper we find that we don't actually have much control at all. So it's important, for your sanity as much as anything else, to find your little moments of control. Find those moments where you have as near as possible to total control of the outcome. It could be as simple as a doing a bit of exercise, or reading a book, doing some study or even potting a plant. Whatever it is, find those moments. Embrace them. You'll be glad you did. #control #moments #accountability

Change At Scale Is Hard. Try Allowing It To Spread Instead. #1058
23/10/2020 Duración: 01minCreating change in any organisation is hard. You're always going to be butting heads with the 'Old Guard' whenever you try to implement something new. Trying to do that at scale, is almost impossible. A better approach is to create change at a micro level and then try to create an environment that is conducive to letting that change spread throughout the organisation. Another great insight I got from reading Brave New Work by Aaron Dignan - https://amzn.to/39tctEk #changeagent #changeleadership #organisationalchange

OPPORTUNITY: Branding Wellness Spaces & Places In Your Industry #1057
22/10/2020 Duración: 03minProbably the ONLY good thing to come out of this COVID-19 Crisis has been an increased awareness of all things Health & Wellness. We will eventually stop talking about COVID-19 all day and all night. But it would be naive to assume that such an impactful and long-lasting event will not have a significant residual impact. That says to me that we will be conscious of Health & Wellness in the Places & Spaces we live in for some time to come. And THAT says to me there's an opportunity to create brands that own that space in the consumer's mind. Who will create the Wellness Retail Space Brand? Or the Wellness Car Park Brand? Or even the Wellness Car Brand? It's a big opportunity! #wellness #opportunity #bigideas2020

Customer Experience Mission - Provide Clarity On Customer Service #1056
21/10/2020 Duración: 02minEvery company says they value their customers. But not every company puts meaningful systems and processes in place to make sure that the customer experience is at the centre of all that they do. That's why, according to Jeannie Walters, a Customer Experience Mission is an important thing to have. Think of like a Company Mission Statement, but more targeted on the things that really matter to your customers - like how they feel when they experience your brand, what your brand values mean to them, etc. Check out this great article from Jeannie to learn more (& join in the FREE 21 Day CX Challenge!)...https://bit.ly/2Hia4nn #customerexperience #missionstatement #customerfocus

It’s The Freedom To Choose That Really Matters To Us #1055
20/10/2020 Duración: 02minSo many around the world have now experienced some form of restriction of movement as a result of this COVID-19. Many of them are screaming for a return of their Freedom of Movement. But the reality is, what they're really missing, is the Freedom of Choice. #freedomofchoice #restrictions #freedom

The Simple Marketing Genius Of The Vegemite Knife #1053
18/10/2020 Duración: 02minVegemite is an iconic Aussie spread that we've been putting on our toast for generations. First you spread on some butter, then the Vegemite. But that usually means you'll end up with a bit of butter mixed in with your Vegemite in the jar. Apparently, this is problem. 89% of Vegemite customers said they found it annoying. So the genius folks in the marketing department at Vegemite created...The Vegemite Knife. A double ended knife with a blade at each end. One for the butter. One for the Vegemite. Check it out here... https://bit.ly/3dD7qF1 Hats off to Vegemite for a very clever marketing campaign. #marketingcampaign #viralmarketing #marketingideas

We Don’t Choose What We Like, We Like What We Choose #1052
17/10/2020 Duración: 02minDo we choose things because we like them or do we like them because we choose them? Cognitive Bias means we have a tendency to convince ourselves of our own version of reality. After we've made the choice, we convince ourselves that it was the right choice. Our recently chose thing is the best of all of them. A recently published study has found that we do this as babies too. That suggest that this cognitive bias isn't just something we learn to do as adults, it's part of the human condition. Here's some more information about that research... https://bit.ly/3k6eNac So what does that mean for you in business? It means that the after-purchase engagement is critical. Your customers want to convince themselves that they made the right choice. So help them do that. Stay engaged with them after their purchase. How? Well, it could be as simple as getting them to connect with you on your social media channels. Just a few simple posts from your social streams might be all it takes to help them reinforce the

The Contradiction Of Focus & Diversification In Business #1051
16/10/2020 Duración: 02minMost would agree that you need Focus if you are to achieve success in business. But you also need to simultaneously be able to Diversify you resources and your time. This is especially true in new businesses as they may not be 100% clear on exactly what the direction of their business will be. Even for those more mature businesses, they never know when the market might change what it wants. The best business leaders are comfortable with the Contradiction of Focus and Diversification. #focus #success #contradiction #concentration

The Subtle Distinction Between Ignorance And Arrogance #1050
15/10/2020 Duración: 02minA certain level of Ignorance is usually tolerated because it means you simply didn't know any better. However, if you kinda did know better but decided you couldn't be bothered making the extra effort, then it can quickly become arrogance. It can be a very fine line between the two. So next time you find yourself blaming your failure on ignorance, just take a minute to be sure it really wasn't arrogance. #ignorance #arrogance #selfawareness

A Low Skilled Job Doesn’t Equal A Low Capability Employee #1049
14/10/2020 Duración: 02minThe authors of a new book - Humanocracy - suggest that actually there's no such thing as a 'Low Skilled' job. What these jobs really are is 'Low Opportunity' jobs. The organisational structure has effectively dumbed down these jobs and as a result they often become the monotonous, mind-numbing roles that we refer to as Low Skilled. But if we instead give the workers in these roles more freedom and autonomy to make decisions and solve problems, we will probably find out that these people are not Low Capability employees. Here's the link to the book - https://bit.ly/3nM1jmh NB: Thanks to Bill Allison for the inspiration. #futureofwork #employeeengagement #employeeempowerment

In A World Full Of Facts, Can We Ever Find Truth? #1048
13/10/2020 Duración: 03minThere is a level in comfort in knowing the truth. It gives us a sense of certainty. It allows us to confidently set our compass. However, with so many facts available to us these days, it seems harder and harder to agree on precisely which of those facts we should embrace as the truth. You and I could in fact hold completely different versions of the truth depending which set of facts we call on. In days gone by we simply had less information available to us, so it was far easier to agree on what is truth. But in this modern age, with data/information/facts seemingly in unlimited supply, it harder than ever to agree on what the real truth is. I honestly don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing. But I do know that uncertainty when it comes to the truth can be a precarious state to be in. And we're in it right now, up to our eyeballs! #truth #facts #knowledge

Your Success Will Be Determined By Dynamics & Mechanics #1047
12/10/2020 Duración: 01minMany of us, including me, have a tendency to overthink things. According to Ross Lyon, former AFL Football player and coach, when you boil it all down, life can be pretty simple. It's about Dynamics and Mechanics. The Dynamics are the human factors - people, relationships, culture, etc. The Mechanics are structural - systems, processes, procedures, etc. So if you find yourself in a bit of a rut and are trying to find a way forward, try looking at things through the lens of Dynamics and Mechanics. You might just find an obvious answer in there somewhere. #lifelessons #simplicity #successformula

Resume Tip #3 : Speak The Language Of The Employer #1046
11/10/2020 Duración: 02minMany industries have their own unique language, shorthands and abbreviations. It's important that your Resume and Job Application speak the language specific to the industry for which you are applying. For example, if you're a hotel person, you probably have great Customer Service skills...but you don't call it it that. In the hotel industry, we talk about Guest Service. So if you're applying for a job outside of the hotel industry, you should adjust the language in your Resume. It's basically the same thing. But using the right language is important. Similarly, your hotel Resume might talk about F&B experience and managing HODs. But to someone outside of the industry, they may not know that you're talking about Food & Beverage and Heads of Departments. Language matters. Be sure to tweak your Resume and Job Application accordingly. #jobapplication #resumewriting #resumetips

Resume Tip #2 : Include A Trackable Link To Your Answer #1045
10/10/2020 Duración: 02minYour Resume/CV need to answer questions. The questions the employer wants answered...ie: do you have the required skills, abilities and attributes to fill the role? A great way to answer those questions is to share links to content where you have previously proved your knowledge. Maybe it's an article you contributed to. Maybe one of your own previous blog post. Or a podcast you were a guest on. And when you share that link, make sure it's trackable. That way, you will know for sure if your link has been viewed. At least then you will know that your application has been seen. #resumetips #jobapplication #resumewritingtips

Resume Tip #1 : Craft Your Facts To Tell The Right Story #1044
09/10/2020 Duración: 02minA Resume or a CV should be a collection of facts. Now, if yours has a few bits of fiction in there, you probably should change that now. But your job is to craft those facts to present them in such a way as they tell the right story. For example, it may be a fact that you have an in-depth knowledge of the latest Spa & Wellness trends. But that fact isn't very relevant if you're applying for a job in Food & Beverage. A much better fact in this case would be your experience in supervising and managing teams. You need to adjust your Resume or CV to present the right story to the specific job that you're applying for right now. #resumetips #jobtips #jobapplication #resumewriting

The Great Hospitality Clean Out Opportunity #1043
08/10/2020 Duración: 03min2020 will be remembered as a year that many hospitality businesses were forced into a bit of a purge or clean out. Many of these businesses have been forced to close for an extended period of time and as such, they've needed to lay off most, if not all, of their workforce. That's the bad news. But the good news is, when these businesses start to re-open, they will need to re-hire. And THAT is the opportunity for you. I'm already starting to see it happening now. I'm starting to see a number of hotel businesses advertising for new staff, especially in Asia, Middle East and Africa. With a bit of luck, the tail end of 2020 and the start of 2021 will represent a period of job opportunity for many people in the hospitality space. So cross your fingers and get ready! #hospitalityjobs #hotelindustry #jobopportunities

The Simple Genius Of The W W W Business Plan Template #1042
07/10/2020 Duración: 01minThere's no shortage of Business Plan templates available online, many of them free. They range from very basic to extremely complex. But the most concise and arguably most impactful might just be this... WHO - WHAT - WHEN WHO is going to do WHAT and by WHEN? The Three W's of Business.
