AMONESTACIÓN AL HIJO EN CUANTO A LA LEY DADA POR SU PADRE La palabra ley se refiere a la ley de Dios. Muchas veces se refiere a la ley en sí misma, pero otras como aquí, tiene en mente la instrucción acerca de la ley que el padre impartía en el hogar. El hijo debía cuidarse de no olvidarla y guardarla en su corazón (3:1). La palabra guardar no se refiere únicamente a retenerla, sino que lleva la idea de obedecerla o ponerla por obra. Esa ley recordada y guardada en el corazón ofrece dos beneficios atractivos: a) largura de días y años de vida y b) paz creciente (3:2). Si el hijo agrega a eso las virtudes de la misericordia y la verdad, las ata a su cuello y las escribe en la tabla de su corazón, disfrutará de “gracia y buena opinión ante los ojos de Dios y los hombres” (3:3–4).
