Shortly after, industrial companies across the globe began to struggle. How did China become so dominant? Can Europe break free? And, if so, how? Heel ander nieuws is er van de Mijnraad, die afgelopen week met een advies over de leveringszekerheid van aardgas in Nederland kwam. Conclusie: Nederland heeft z’n zaakjes niet op orde. En natuurlijk hebben we het over de oorlog in het Midden-Oosten en het effect op de olieprijs.

In 2023, Swedish mining company LKAB announced the discovery of the largest known deposit of rare earth elements (REEs) in Europe. Located in Kiruna, the iron ore deposit contains high levels of phosphorus and rare earth oxides. To talk about the discovery, how the company plans to extract the minerals and the need for more domestic European production, I’m joined by Darren Wilson, CEO of LKAB Minerals.

The European Commission's support, last month, for 47 strategic projects to boost domestic capacity in strategic raw materials, puts mining at the forefront of EU policy.
