Anytime we feel not good enough, we deny the powerful truth that we are a glorious work of God in progress. Psalm 13:1-6 1 How long, LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?  2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?  3 Look on me and answer, LORD my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,  4 and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall.  5 But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.  6 I will sing the LORD’s praise, for he has been good to me.

Suffering changes us. This year has changed us. Consider the grace that we can bestow to each other from that suffering that changes. It is not about focusing on the cause. It is about focusing on the response. Psalm 4:1-8 1 Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer.  2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame? Psalm 103:7-12 7 He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel: 8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. 9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; 10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west,so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Psalm 123:1-4 1 I lift up my eyes to you, to you who sit enthroned in heaven.  2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, till he shows us his mercy.  3 Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy on us, for we have endured no end of contempt.  4 We have endured no end of ridicule from the arrogant, of contempt from the proud.
