The Duke Blue Devils took care of business against the Hofstra Pride, and we have an immediate postgame recap on Episode 568! Duke had to battle Hofstra for a half, but then started to pull away in the 2nd half with a dazzling display. Jason and Donald jump on about a half hour after the conclusion of the game to go quickly through all the good from this victory. Kyle Filipowski was incredible with his near triple double, and so many other players get some kudos for their play. One of the better mid-major teams in the country comes to Cameron Tuesday night as the Hofstra Pride arrive in Durham. Make no mistake this is a club capable of giving Duke a real game. The Duke Blue Devils have hired a head football coach (cue the blue smoke!) and Jason and Donald discuss the hire on a special DBR Bites Episode 29. Manny Diaz comes to Duke from Penn State, where he was the defensive coordinator for 2 years. Before that, he was the head coach at Miami. He also had coaching stints at Florida State, NC State, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Texas, and Louisiana Tech. We discuss what Manny Diaz brings to the table, starting with some incredible defenses. Penn State fans are very upset at losing Diaz to Duke, and it seems like players are excited to have him coming to campus. After the break, Donald breaks down some of the concerns for Manny Diaz that he followed closely in his stint as the Miami defensive coordinator and head coach. The Duke Blue Devils had another poor showing yesterday against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and we discuss the first ACC loss on Episode 565. Duke lost 72-68 to Georgia Tech in a game that saw Duke fans lament the loss of Tyrese Proctor to an ankle injury early in the game and saw more poor shooting and stagnant offense. This was not how the season was supposed to start for an experienced Blue Devil club, but they picked up their second loss (and their second poor game in a row) on Wednesday, falling at Arkansas to the Razorbacks of the SEC. The game displayed a myriad of potential problems for Duke, not least of which was the team's inability to finish on offense close to the basket. They are calling this one of the biggest home games in Arkansas basketball history. That's what happens when Duke comes to town. The Blue Devils will be playing the Razorbacks at Bud Walton Arena on Wednesday night as part of the first-ever ACC-SEC Challenge and the Duke Basketball Roundup is here to give you all you need to know about what to expect. After 2 years of great success at Duke, he is moving on to Texas A&M, one of the big power-players in college football. I guess this is what it feels like when Duke basketball swoops in and grabs a stud recruit at the last minute. The Duke Basketball Roundup takes a deep dive into the good and the bad from the Blue Devils' heavyweight matchup with the Arizona Wildcats. It was a tough, back-and-forth battle that put several Duke weaknesses on stark display. The starters suffered from poor shooting early and Arizona really dominated the boards, especially in the first half. When Duke turned to what was expected to be a deep bench, the guys who came in failed to provide a meaningful lift. But, nothing we saw rises to the level of an unfixable problem.
