Sizing People Up
12/03/2020 Duración: 34minAfter two decades as a behavior analyst in the FBI, Robin Dreeke knows a thing or two about sizing people up. He's navigated complex situations that range from handling Russian spies to navigating the internal politics at the Bureau. Through that experience, he was forced to develop a knack for reading people, their intentions, their capabilities, their desires and their fears. In Sizing People Up, Dreeke shares his simple, six-step system that helps you predict anyone's future behavior based on their words, goals, patterns of action, and the situation at hand. Predicting the behavior of others is an urgent need for anyone whose work involves relationships with others, whether it's leading an organization, collaborating with a teammate, or closing a sale. But predictability is not as simple as good and evil, or truth and fiction. Allies might make a promise with every intention of keeping it, not realizing that they will be unable to do so due to some personal shortcoming. And those seeking to thwart your

Turning Adversity into Advantage
05/03/2020 Duración: 34minHow do you find a competitive edge when the obstacles feel insurmountable? How do you get people to take you seriously when they're predisposed not to, and perhaps have already written you off? Our latest guest, Laura Huang, has come up against that problem many times, and so has anyone who's ever felt out of place or underestimated. Many of us sit back quietly, hoping that our hard work and effort will speak for itself. Or we try to force ourselves into the mold of who we think is "successful," stifling the creativity and charm that makes us unique and memorable. In her recently released book, Edge: Turning Adversity into Advantage, Huang offers a different approach. She argues that success is rarely just about the quality of our ideas, credentials, and skills, or our effort. Instead, achieving success hinges on how well we shape others' perceptions, of our strengths, certainly, but also our flaws. It's about creating our own edge by confronting the factors that seem like shortcomings and turning them int

Tax Season Planning with Ed Slott
27/02/2020 Duración: 19minTax season is open, which means there’s another opportunity to: (a) vent about how much you hate this time of year, (b) complain about the complexity of the U.S. code, and (c) whine about your refund being lower than previous years, even though you know that a refund is just the return of the extra money that you paid Uncle Sam, on which he paid zero interest. The Internal Revenue Service is hoping that this year’s filing season will be less fraught than last year’s, because the government has remained open (remember the 35-day shutdown of 2018-2019?) and it will be the second time that the American taxpayers will be filing under the new rules that emerged from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). The deadline to file 2019 tax returns and pay any tax owed is Wednesday, April 15, 2020 and the IRS expects that more than 150 million individual tax returns will be filed. Back with us for his annual tax season appearance is Ed Slott, the ultimate tax guru and founder of IRA Help. The best way to prepare for this seas

Investor Panic Prevention Plan
26/02/2020 Duración: 02minTalk about a rough couple of days on Wall Street! Right about this time, you may be feeling a certain amount of queasiness, leading to low levels of anxiety and maybe even full-blown panic. Oh sure, you know that investing is risky, after all, that horrendous bear market of 2008-09 is not such a distant memory. But you may have forgotten just how awful the gut-wrenching losses can feel, especially as you confront those monthly and quarterly statements. Here’s the thing: those emotions are totally normal, but you need to guard against doing something that can knock you off course. Have a money question? Email me here. Can You Really Have It All?
20/02/2020 Duración: 25minOur latest guest, Romi Neustadt, is a mom of two, a wife, a daughter, bestselling author, speaker, entrepreneur, and coach. What's more, she's achieved these things without a staff of 10, the ability to sleep two hours a night or driving herself crazy. She's figured out the key to having it all: Priorities. In her second book, You Can Have It All, Just Not at the Same Damn Time, Romi provides a no-BS blueprint for women to figure out what to focus on and what not to. She explains why saying YES to everything and everyone really means saying NO to the things that matter, to your goals, your dreams, and your true self. The key to achieving your wildest dreams isn't to downsize them. It's to embrace them more fully, and discard everything that isn't serving them. This book is for anybody who wants to live a fulfilled, authentic life without feeling stressed and exhausted. Have a money question? Email me here.
