For about a decade now there has been a pay freeze in effect for Congress. Many in Congress felt that it was time to end that and give themselves a raise. The owner of a property where a private border wall was built over Memorial Day weekend received a cease and desist order for building the half-mile wall in violation of a Sunland Park, New Mexico, city ordinance. Most of you remember the news story about the Oregon ranchers Dwight and Steven Hammond. They lost their grazing permit for the ranch back in 2014. The Bureau of Land Management denied their application after the ranchers were convicted of arson in 2012, which they both served prison time and paid a sizable fine. In 2018 President Trump issued a full pardon of the Hammonds. Recently, three environmental groups filed lawsuits against the BLM to block the renewal of a grazing permit to the Hammond ranch.
