The California NAACP wants to get rid of The Star-Spangled Banner as our national anthem, calling it “racist” and “anti-black.” and some Democrats, like Rep. Danny Davis of Illinois, are okay with that. Not the outrage of the week but outrageous just the same, during a recent probe at U.S. airports by the Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration screeners failed to detect test weapons more than half of the time. Virginia held state elections for the Governership and legislative offices and the Democrats won big. But don't buy into the media and DNC hype about what those wins mean for the country. On November 5, 2017, there was a mass shooting at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, about 30 miles east of the city of San Antonio. The gunman, 26-year-old Devin Patrick Kelley of nearby New Braunfels, killed 26 and injured 20. We'll spend some time talking about it. Honor and valor are supposed to be traits shared by our servicemen and officers, which is why it is so disappointing that an Air Force Cadet hoaxed a "Hate Crime" at the academy.    In a busy news week, it has been the Second Amendment and those who would have it repealed that have dominated the cycle. We'll talk about it but there are a few other stories I'd like to discuss. A teacher at Shiloh Middle School in Georgia is being criticized for a homework assignment in which they asked students to draw a "Nazi mascot." Parents are outraged, but should they be? Maybe, maybe not. I have a few thoughts. ISIS soldiers in Iraq, who promised to be martyrs for the Caliphate, are surrendering "en masse" according to Kurdish forces. ISIS fighters have been turning themselves in by the hundreds after realizing they won't be fed or paid for their contribution to the cause.    This coming week the latest GOP effort to replace the biggest, single step this nation has taken toward socialism, Obamacare; will face its fate. Will it pass or will McCain, Collins, Murkowski, and Paul derail Graham-Cassidy? President Trump will also be unveiling his tax reform plan, which many say is a must win for Trump. So, with both of these important issues on the table why is President Trump now in a "Twitter War" with the NFL, LeBron James, and disinviting the Golden State Warriors to the White House over Stephen Curry's (and others on the team) reluctance to visit the White House. Is this a mistake or is Trump using the predictable media response as a distraction while he works behind the scenes to push for Graham-Cassidy, garner support for his tax reform plan, and go about the business of the office of President? Equifax reported a data breach that affects 143 million US customers, about 44% of the population. It's an extremely serious breach; hackers got access to full names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses, driver's license numbers -- exactly the sort of information criminals can use to impersonate victims to banks, credit card companies, insurance companies, and other businesses vulnerable to fraud. Michael Daugherty will join me to discuss it.
