Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor to complete the trilogy in this weeks talk on Thor: Ragnarok! Taika Waititi delivers us a fresh take on a super hero movie by adding some lovely charm and quite a bit of humour to the mix up the action set pieces. Jigsaw is back again for the 8th installment of the torture extravaganza franchise. This series is like the Energizer Bunny... it just keeps going and going and going. It tries its best to stay fresh and include some new traps and twists, but it fizzles out like a failed firecracker. Chris and James tried to have a good time with it regardless, but even our chipper attitude going into it couldn't save us from this money grab. I guess Jigsaw wins after all. So if a movie comes out in September, when will it arrive in Yellowknife? Correct! Up to a month later! That's what happened here, folks, with American Assassin. We talk if this is a fresh take on the action spy genre or something more derivative of films past (hint: it's the latter). Some cool action set pieces have a hard time making up for the poor dialogue and basic plot points. Ah well. Episode 18 is here and James and Chris had a little fun at the theatre with Happy Death Day. The movie itself on a whole is so-so, but that didn't stop us from having a pretty good time with it. We talk about the guessing game we played and the blending of genre. Definitely could have been better, but at the same time, it could've totally s**t the bed. This week, Chris and James play catch up by looking at Blade Runner 2049. We got way loose before the show, as we recorded during Sunday Football. Chris and James head to their second Tom Cruise flick of 2017 in another team up with director Doug Liman to bring us American Made. Don't let this "Based on a True Story" fool you, though, because the truth is stretched quite a bit. The story of Barry Seal and his smuggling escapades is intriguing but the final product in this film just seemed to fall flat.
