On the show we will talk about the Sport of Kings. We will delve into the different features of the WinningPonies.com website. John Engelhardt will talk about the issues of the day that affect horse racing, such as synthetic surfaces, medication rule changes, the fate of the industry as a whole, VLTs and Casinos, and human interest stories of triumph and defeat. You will also hear our spot play of the week, where John will handicap the feature races for the upcoming weekend, and will give out his best plays. We will keep you abreast racings big events. Featured on the show will be guests (trainers, jockeys, jockeys agents, owners, and celebrity handicappers). Promotional giveaways will be featured, such as brand merchandise and free WinningCredits.Winning Ponies is broadcast live every Thursday at 8 PM Eastern/5 PM Pacific on the VoiceAmerica Variety Channel.

    The son of a trainer, Dale Romans grew up around horse racing at Churchill Downs. At age eighteen he embarked on a career as a trainer, getting his first winner on February 15, 1987 at Turfway Park in Florence, Kentucky. Among his most successful horses was Kitten's Joy. 2004 was his big break as Kitten's Joy was named American Champion Male Turf Horse honors and Roses in May provided him with the biggest payday of his career to date when he won the $6 million Dubai World Cup in 2005. He collected his first Breeders' Cup win in 2009 when Tapitsfly won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

    Based in California, Vietnam War veteran John Shirreffs began training Thoroughbreds in 1978. He has won a number of stakes races with his most important coming in the 2005 Kentucky Derby when Giacomo scored a major upset. In 2007, another Shirreffs-trained horse scored a major upset when Tiago, a half-brother to Giacomo (both out of the mare Set Them Free) won the Santa Anita Derby. He is also the trainer of champion Zenyatta, unbeaten in 19 career starts and winner of the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic in 2008 and Breeders' Cup Classic in 2009. In November 2009, Shirreffs became the first trainer to conquer both the Ladies' Classic and Classic in the same year, as Life Is Sweet romped home in the former and Zenyatta defeated males in the latter. Shirreffs will be discussing super-mare Zenyatta and the upcoming Breeders' Cup Classic at Churchill Downs, where she will attempt to win her 20th straight race.

He has won an unprecedented six Sovereign Awards as Canada’s leading trainer, most recently in 2002. He’s won Canada’s Triple Crown three of the six times it’s been accomplished. And he has trained six Canadian Horse of the Years—Norcliffe, 1976; Play the King, 1988; With Approval, 1989; Izvestia, 1990; Peteski, 1993; and Alywow, 1994. He’s won Canada’s most prestigious race, the Queen’s Plate, six times. From 1976 through June 1, 2008, Roger Attfield earned 1,467 wins and earnings of $67,954,827.

    Chad Brown, a Mechanicville, NY native, got into horses early at an upstate New York track. He was an understudy to Hall of Fame trainer Robert Frankel. In November 2007, Brown went out on his own. He picked up his first Breeders' Cup victory with a 2-year-old filly named Maram to win the inaugural $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf by a nose at Santa Anita Park in 2008. Brown competed in his first Saratoga Race Course meet in 2008 and won with the very first horse he entered, Star Player, on opening day. Brown went on to win a total of 6 races during the 36 day meet. In 2010, he had a smoking hot meet at Saratoga, finishing 3rd in the trainer standings, with 17 winners saddled.     Patricia (also known as Patti or P.J.) Joen Cooksey (born February 25, 1958 in Youngstown, Ohio) is an American horse racing jockey. She first won with Turf Advisor at Waterford Park (now Mountaineer Park) in 1979. She is a four-time Turfway Park leading rider. Cooksey has won 2,137 wins since beginning her career in 1979. She was the all-time leading female jockey by number of victories before Julie Krone overtook her. In 2004, she became the first ever female jockey to be voted the NYRA's Mike Venezia Memorial Award, an honor given annually to a jockey who exemplifies extraordinary sportsmanship and citizenship. Patricia now lives in Louisville, Kentucky with her daughter, Chelsea Neal. She is retired from racing and currently works for the Kentucky Racing Commission. While attending Harvard in the 1960s, he decided to pursue his passion -- beating the horse races. Over the past four decades, his research and insights have revolutionized and legitimized the industry. Using his math skills, Mr. Beyer created a new way to rate the speed of a horse in a race. The formula he created, known as the Beyer Figures, has allowed horse enthusiasts around the world to better gauge how well a horse ran in previous races and from this information, deduce the potential speed of the horse in future races. In a sense, they are like momentum ratings in our industry.

    Graham Motion: Born on May 22, 1964, in Cambridge, England, Mr. Motion's father Michael was internationally recognized as the representative for Tattersalls, the British sales company. So he was around horses early in his life, accompanying his father to the sales. Mr. Motion worked for Jonathan Sheppard from 1985-90, briefly for Jonathan Pease in France, and Bernie Bond after his return to the United States in 1991.
